Ca2+ transients on the T cell surface trigger rapid integrin activation in a timescale of seconds
One question in lymphocyte homing is how integrins are rapidly activated to enable immediate arrest of fast rolling lymphocytes upon encountering chemokines at target vascular beds given the slow chemokine-induced integrin inside-out activation.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Realistic interpretation of a superposition state does not imply a mixture
Contrary to previous claims, it is shown that, for an ensemble of either single-particle systems or multi-particle systems, the realistic interpretation of a superposition state that mathematically describes the ensemble does not imply that the ensemble ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A Complex Multi-State System with Vacations in the Repair [PDF]
A complex multi-state system subject to wear failure and given preventive maintenance is considered. Various internal levels of degradation are assumed. The repair facility is composed of a repairperson, who may take one or more vacations during the period considered. A policy is established for the repairperson’s vacation time. Two
