Wetting behavior of multi-walled carbon nanotube nanofluids

Nanotechnology, 2017
Nanofluids-engineered colloidal suspensions in base liquids-have captivated the interest of researchers over the last two decades for various existing as well as emerging technological applications. The main impetus for the synthesis of such novel nanocomposite liquids is the potential to alter properties of the base liquid, such as its viscosity ...

Magnetic Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes for Tumor Theranostics

Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology, 2015
Current diagnostic techniques do not reliably detect cancer at early stages, and traditional chemotherapy lacks specificity and causes systemic toxicity. To address these issues, multifunctional nanomaterials are becoming more widely studied as a means of cancer detection, therapy, and monitoring.

Self-Assembly of Aligned Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes in Polypropylene-Coated Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Composites

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Polypropylene (PP)-coated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) composite with MWNTs exceptional alignment dispersed and improved mechanical properties was prepared with maleic anhydride (MAH) as a compatibilizer and poly (butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) as a binding. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results showed that MWNTs within composite were aligned

A multi-walled carbon nanotube–aluminum bimorph nanoactuator

Nanotechnology, 2009
A multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) bimorph nanoactuator has been modeled, fabricated and characterized. A thin aluminum film was uniformly deposited on the sidewalls of MWNTs using a pulsed laser deposition method to create the bimorph nanostructure.

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes on amorphous carbon films

Carbon, 2004
Nanotubular structures composed of layered graphite sheets or other layered materials have been studied intensely by both scanning and transmission electron microscopy. In this paper, we will show how graphite structures, that are inherent to the production process of the amorphous carbon support films, used for both SEM and TEM studies can be easily ...

Transport Properties of Alkali-Doped Multi Walled Carbon Nanotubes

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2012
In this work we propose a study on electrical properties of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) doped with the most commonly used alkali metals. We report resistivity measurements of MWCNT exposed to doping with Li, Na, K and Cs. Our results show that, increasing the alkali exposure, the resistance of the doped sample decreases denoting a progressive ...

Multi-walled carbon nanotubes-supported Fe(naph)3 nanoparticles to prepare polyacetylene/multi-walled carbon nanotubes nanocomposites

Journal of Materials Science: Materials in Electronics, 2013
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are a promising candidate for preparing conductive polymer/CNT nanocomposites. CNTs are also an alternative to conventional catalyst support. This report studies multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) supported-Fe(naph)3 nanoparticles to prepare polyacetylene (PA)/MWNT nanocomposites with core–shell structure. The XPS spectra and

Calixarene-modified multi-wall carbon nanotubes

2008
In order to improve the properties of carbon nanotubes, novel calixarene-modified multi-wall carbon nanotubes were prepared by using carbon nanotubes with carboxylic groups and various novel calixarene derivatives. This self-assembling process has allowed us to fabricate carbon nanotubes with functional organic molecules.

Luminescent functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes

2010
Oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes were produced by strong acid treatment with the aid of sonication. The oxidized carbon nanotubes were analyzed by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and photoluminescence spectroscopy Analysis of the photoluminescence spectrum shows that the short carbon nanotubes are luminescent in the visible range.
