Multi-wavelength transport networks
IEEE Communications Magazine, 1994Optical networking is attracting a large amount of interest, particularly for local access and increasingly for long-haul, or core, network applications. However, optical networks are essentially analog, and with this return to analog transmission there are a number of issues that need to be understood and overcome if the concept of an optical ...

Metrologia, 1981
The main problem in the application of radiation pyrometry to the measurement of true surface temperatures is the large error arising from the unknown or varying emissivity of the surface. The nature of the additional information required for the class of techniques which utilize only the thermal radiation emitted from the surface is discussed.

A multi-wavelength opacimeter for NOX and soot
2015 9th International Conference on Sensing Technology (ICST), 2015A novel method to simultaneously determine the concentration of particles and NO2, the main pollutants in the exhaust of diesel engines, is presented. It is based on multi-wavelength extinction measurement followed by a mathematical inversion algorithm. This paper gives an overview of the extinction measurement in general and extends the principle to a

Hybrid multi-wavelength photoacoustic imaging
2018 40th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2018Multi-wavelength photoacoustic (PA) imaging has been studied extensively to explore the spectroscopic absorption contrast of biological tissues. To generate strong PA signals, a high-power wavelength-tunable pulsed laser source has to be employed, which is bulky and quite expensive.

Multi-Wavelength Luminosity Functions of Galaxies
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2003Multivariate or multi‐wavelength luminosity functions will reveal the interplay between star formation, chemical evolution, and absorption and re‐emission of dust within evolving galaxy populations. By using principal component analysis to reduce the dimensionality of the problem, I optimally extract the relevant photometric information from large ...

Null ellipsometer with multi-wavelength
SPIE Proceedings, 2010A multi-wavelength null ellipsometer with variable incident angle has been developed recently. The ellipsometer consists of five parts, mainly including a source set with three semiconductor lasers, a rotating component with step motor, sample stage of variable incident angle, detector, and the system of computer control procedure and data processing

Multi-Wavelength Spectrophotometric Analysis
2022On the basis of the absorbance activity law, it is possible to carry out the spectrophotometric determination of two individual components (having totally or partially overlapping spectra) in a binary mixture. This determination can be carried out in a very precise and simple way by introducing ourselves in the multicomponent analysis by means of the ...

Multi-wavelength fluorescence tomography
SPIE Proceedings, 2016The strong scattering and absorption of light in biological tissue makes it challenging to model the propagation of light, especially in deep tissue. This is especially true in fluorescent tomography, which aims to recover the internal fluorescence source distribution from the measured light intensities on the surface of the tissue.

A Multi-Wavelength Fluorescence Spectrometer*
Journal of the Optical Society of America, 1953A basic multi-wavelength x-ray fluorescence spectrometer has been designed and a two-goniometer prototype built. The instrument is of the dispersive type, using separate crystals, Geiger-Muller detectors, and counting circuits. The system, by providing for the simultaneous determination of more than one element, results in economy of testing time and ...
