Multi-wavelength observations of H 2356–309 [PDF]

open access: yesAstronomy and Astrophysics, 2010
AIMS: The properties of the broad-band emission from the high-frequency peaked BL Lac H 2356-309 (z=0.165) are investigated. METHODS: Very High Energy (VHE; E > 100 GeV) observations of H 2356-309 were performed with the High Energy Stereoscopic System (HESS) from 2004 through 2007.

Multi-Wavelength Based Optical Density Sensor for Autonomous Monitoring of Microalgae

open access: yesSensors, 2015
A multi-wavelength based optical density sensor unit was designed, developed, and evaluated to monitor microalgae growth in real time. The system consisted of five main components including: (1) laser diode modules as light sources; (2) photodiodes as ...

Stable Multi-Wavelength Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser With Two Cascaded Single-Mode-Four-Mode-Single-Mode Fiber Interferometers

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a multi-wavelength thulium-doped fiber laser using two cascaded single-mode-four-mode-single-mode (SFS) fiber interferometers and a 150-m-long highly nonlinear fiber.

Demonstration of wavelength packet switched radio-over-fiber system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The authors present a novel concept of employing optical wavelength packet switching in radio-over-fiber access networks. In such a system, the tunable laser (TL) would be employed as a transmitter in the central station. The optical carrier generated by

Characterising the Long-Term Variability of Blazars in Leptonic Models

open access: yesGalaxies, 2019
Most research on blazar variability focuses on individual flares to explain acceleration and radiation mechanisms and improve on current models. These short-time events (being minutes, hours, or days) might not be representative of the underlying ...

Multi-wavelength wireless-PON [PDF]

open access: yes2010 12th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks, 2010
An innovative architectural platform demonstrating transparent transmission of frequency division multiplexed (FDM) WiMAX channels over multi-wavelength splitter-PONs enriched by overlapping cell functionalities has been investigated to potentially double the spectral efficiency and provide resilience.

Cross-channel interference due to wavelength drift of tunable lasers in DWDM networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The authors present an investigation of the wavelength stability of a tunable laser (TL) transmitter and its impact on the performance of a 2.5-Gb/s dense wavelength-division-multiplexed (DWDM) system.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
