Multiattribute Utility Theory (MAUT)
2016In this chapter, we provide a review of multiattribute utility theory. We begin with a brief review of single-attribute preference theory, and explore preference representations that measure a decision maker’s strength of preference and her preferences for risky alternatives.

Missing consequences in multiattribute utility theory
Omega, 2009This paper addresses how to deal with decision alternatives with missing consequences in multicriteria decision-making problems. We propose disregarding the attributes for which a decision alternative provides no consequence by redistributing their respective weights throughout the objective hierarchy in favor of a straightforward idea: the assignation

Maut — Multiattribute Utility Theory
2006In this chapter, we provide a review of multiattribute utility theory. We begin with a brief review of single-attribute preference theory, and we explore preference representations that measure a decision maker’s strength of preference and her preferences for risky alternatives. We emphasize the distinction between these two cases, and then explore the

Use of multiattribute utility theory for formulary management in a health system
American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy, 2010The application, utility, and flexibility of the multiattribute utility theory (MAUT) when used as a formulary decision methodology in a Korean medical center were evaluated.A drug analysis model using MAUT consisting of 10 steps was designed for two drug classes of dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (CCBs) and angiotensin II receptor blockers ...

Partial Information, Dominance, and Potential Optimality in Multiattribute Utility Theory
Operations Research, 1986When a multiattribute utility function is only partially specified by prior preference statements, what can be said about the relative desirability of actual alternatives? This question is addressed for the cases of additively separable cardinal utility with unknown scaling constants; multiplicatively separable cardinal utility with unknown scaling ...

The utility theory approach is an attempt to rigorously apply objective measurement to decision making. Also known as the decision analysis method, the principle behind utility theory is that if alternative performances on concrete, measurable attributes are compared in a rational, unbiased manner, sounder decisions will result.

Generic utility theory: Measurement foundations and applications in multiattribute utility theory
Journal of Mathematical Psychology, 1988The formulated utility representation is generic in the sense that it is implied by many stronger utility theories. The generic utility representation postulates that the preference order on a subset of two- outcome gamblers with fixed probability is represented by an additive combination of the utility outcomes.

TESTING THE ROBUSTNESS OF MULTIATTRIBUTE UTILITY THEORY IN AN APPLIED SETTING*
Decision Sciences, 1987ABSTRACTMultiattribute utility theory (MAUT) was employed to model the professional judgments of external auditors. Fully developed MAUT models elicited from each subject according to keeney and Raiffa's [6] procedures were used to predict the internal control systems evaluations made by auditor‐subjects.

An application of multiattribute utility theory to the planning of emergency medical services
Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, 1984This research considers the problem of relating Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to patient outcome. The hypothesis is that response time alone may be misleading as an EMS performance criterion. This research uses methods for approximating multiattribute utility functions to consider both response time and on-the-scene care.

Bibliometric Analysis of Multiple Criteria Decision Making/Multiattribute Utility Theory
International Conference on Multiple Criteria Decision Making, 2009Electronic journal databases allow for the efficient retrieval and processing of bibliometric data, making enhanced literature reviews, known as research profiling studies, possible. We have conducted such a research profiling study of Multiple Criteria Decision Making/Multiattribute Utility Theory (MCDM/MAUT) using the ISI Web of Science.
