Complex wavelet packets for multicarrier modulation

Proceedings of the 1998 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, ICASSP '98 (Cat. No.98CH36181), 2002
We first discuss two approaches for designing complex wavelet packets which can be used as orthogonal carriers for modulations like QAM and PM, and then compare the performance of the wavelet packet based modulation scheme with that of discrete multitone modulation using DFT bases.

An introduction to multicarrier modulation

IEEE Potentials, 2000
OFDM is a powerful modulation technique that increases bandwidth efficiency and simplifies the removal of distortion, due to a multipath channel. Advances in fast Fourier transform technology enable OFDM to be efficiently implemented in hardware, even for a large number of subbands.

Multicarrier modulation for narrowband PCS

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 1994
Investigation of multicarrier modulation has demonstrated the feasibility of using this modulation format to deliver relatively high channel bit rates (24 kbps) to a low cost, pager-like personal communications service (PCS) terminal that enjoys long battery life (e.g., one month on a few pen-light cells). This is to be compared to the 1200 bps carried

An adaptive modulation scheme in multicarrier modulation system

Proceedings 7th International Conference on Signal Processing, 2004. Proceedings. ICSP '04. 2004., 2005
An adaptive modulation scheme is applied in multicarrier modulation system to improve the system spectral efficiency along with unequal error protection (UEP) to meet the different quality of service (QoS) in transmitting data. Power control zone (PCZ) is employed to make the improvement of system performance in terms of average BER or BPS.

Non-Orthogonal Multicarrier Modulation for UWB Systems

2015 IEEE International Conference on Ubiquitous Wireless Broadband (ICUWB), 2015
In this paper, we propose a non-orthogonal multi- carrier system for UWB systems to overcome the problem of intercarrier interference (ICI). The proposed scheme applies a window filtering operation around a group of consecutive subcarriers spanning 500 MHz. The filter's samples are used instead of cyclic prefix of conventional OFDM systems.

Near-Capacity Coding in Multicarrier Modulation Systems

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2004
We apply irregular low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes to the design of multilevel coded quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) schemes for application in discrete multitone systems in frequency-selective channels. A combined Gray/Ungerboeck scheme is used to label each QAM constellation.

Discrete Hartley transform based multicarrier modulation

2000 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37100), 2002
This paper presents a real-valued discrete multicarrier modulation approach that is based on the use of the discrete Hartley transform (DHT) and its inverse (IDHT) to perform the modulation and demodulation operations. Since the DHT and IDHT definitions are identical, we can use the same hardware or program to implement the modulator and demodulator of

Pilotless timing recovery for baseband multicarrier modulation

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2002
This paper describes a multicarrier modulation timing recovery algorithm that does not require use of a designated pilot tone. Instead, all or some received subchannels are used to estimate phase and frequency errors. Algorithms for both acquisition and tracking are presented, and simulation results show excellent performance.

On the performance of DWT and WPT modulation for multicarrier systems

2012 IEEE 17th International Workshop on Computer Aided Modeling and Design of Communication Links and Networks (CAMAD), 2012
The discrete wavelet transform, DWT, is being considered for multicarrier modulation, and intensive investigations are underway on how this scheme can best be deployed. The performance of the DWT and wavelet packet transform (WPT) has been investigated and compared. There are more narrowband sub-channels in WPT than those that exist in DWT owing to the

New Multicarrier Modulations for 5G

2016
Recent advances in filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) techniques are presented and compared with the conventional cyclic prefix (CP)-OFDM approach, in the context of 5G. After a brief description of some adaptations of CP-OFDM, FBMC combined with offset-QAM is considered, pointing out the crucial issue of subchannel equalization to compensate for the ...
