Multicore fiber with ring structure

2013 IEEE Photonics Society Summer Topical Meeting Series, 2013
The characteristics of MCFs with one-ring structure are reviewed. The MCFs realize the number of cores larger than 10, suppressed crosstalk and enlarged Aeff under limited cladding diameter in terms of mechanical reliability.

Zero-DGD Multicore Optical Fibers

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2016
An analytical method is presented for designing N-coupled multi-core fibers with zero differential group delay. Using this technique a number of pertinent geometrical configurations are investigated in order to eliminate intermodal dispersion among supermodes.

New type of multicore fiber

Optical Fiber Communication, 1982
Fabrication of an ultrahigh density cable is important, especially for subscriber loops. By using ultrahigh density cable, low cost optical transmission lines may be constructed. A multicore optical fiber1 100-200 μm in diameter is suitable. By using multicore fiber the cable diameter can be reduced drastically, compared with using ordinary monocore ...

Multicore erbium-doped fiber amplifier

2012 17th Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference, 2012
A multicore erbium-doped fiber (MC-EDF) amplifier for simultaneous amplification in the 7-cores has been developed, and the gain and noise properties of individual cores are studied. For a pump power of 146 mW, the average gain achieved in the MC-EDF fiber was 30 dB, and noise figure was less than 4 dB. The net useful gain from the multicore-amplifler,

Multicore-fiber submarine systems [Invited]

Journal of Optical Communications and Networking
This paper reviews and analyzes multicore-fiber technologies in the context of submarine networks. As global/transcontinental capacity continues to grow at a large and steady pace, the subsea industry is challenged to deliver technologies that provide large-capacity networks in a faster, greener, and cost-effective fashion.
