Quantum-inspired multicore optical fiber

Optics Letters, 2022
We introduce a new, to the best of our knowledge, type of multicore optical fiber having a quantum-inspired network topology and unique spectral features. Particularly, the connectivity between the cores is generated by unfolding a circular array of coupled quantum oscillators in Fock space. We show that in such a fiber geometry, the eigenvalues of the

High-Density Multicore Fibers

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2016
High-density single-mode multicore fibers were designed and fabricated. A heterogeneous 30-core fiber realized a low crosstalk of −55 dB. A quasi-single-mode homogeneous 31-core fiber attained the highest core count as a single-mode multicore fiber.

Multicore optical fiber

Optical Fiber Communication, 1979
Field tests of the optical-fiber communication system using optical cables containing from a few to about 50 fibers have been made recently in various countries of the world. The effectiveness of this system has been confirmed in these tests.

Multicore Fiber Sensors

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2017
The use of multicore fibers (MCF) for sensing applications is discussed. In particular, we report on precision interferometric sensors based on strongly-coupled core MCF fusion spliced to conventional single mode fiber. To enhance the sensor performance, our MCF is designed to mode match a standard single mode optical fiber and to support specific ...

Multicore Fiber Technology

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2015
Multicore fibers (MCFs) are expected as a good candidate for overcoming the capacity limit of a current optical communication system. This paper describes the recent progress on the MCFs for space-division multiplexing to be utilized in future large capacity long-distance transmission systems.

Multicore fiber distributed feedback lasers

Optics Letters, 2012
We demonstrate parallel fabrication of seven fiber distributed feedback (DFB) lasers in a hexagonally arrayed multicore core Er doped fiber with 40 μm core spacing. DFB grating cavities 8 cm long and operating near 1545 nm were fabricated with a single UV inscription exposure.
