Quantum-inspired multicore optical fiber
Optics Letters, 2022We introduce a new, to the best of our knowledge, type of multicore optical fiber having a quantum-inspired network topology and unique spectral features. Particularly, the connectivity between the cores is generated by unfolding a circular array of coupled quantum oscillators in Fock space. We show that in such a fiber geometry, the eigenvalues of the

High-density single-mode multicore fibers were designed and fabricated. A heterogeneous 30-core fiber realized a low crosstalk of −55 dB. A quasi-single-mode homogeneous 31-core fiber attained the highest core count as a single-mode multicore fiber.

The use of multicore fibers (MCF) for sensing applications is discussed. In particular, we report on precision interferometric sensors based on strongly-coupled core MCF fusion spliced to conventional single mode fiber. To enhance the sensor performance, our MCF is designed to mode match a standard single mode optical fiber and to support specific ...

Multicore fiber distributed feedback lasers
Optics Letters, 2012We demonstrate parallel fabrication of seven fiber distributed feedback (DFB) lasers in a hexagonally arrayed multicore core Er doped fiber with 40 μm core spacing. DFB grating cavities 8 cm long and operating near 1545 nm were fabricated with a single UV inscription exposure.
