Mode shaping in multicore fibers
Optics Letters, 2007We propose a novel multicore fiber design strategy for obtaining a flat in-phase supermode that optimizes utilization of the active medium inversion in the multiple cores. The spatially flat supermode is achieved by engineering the fiber so that the total mutual coupling between neighboring active cores is equal.

1.2-kW all-fiber Yb-doped multicore fiber amplifier
Optics Letters, 2023We have demonstrated a record-high 1.2 kW, all-fiber multicore amplifier using a six-core single-mode Yb-doped fiber and a multicore pump-signal combiner (PSC). The output power is limited by the pump power of 1.9 kW. We have developed double-clad six-core fibers and PSCs for this demonstration.

Miniature multicore optical fiber vibration sensor
Optics Letters, 2017We demonstrate a compact and versatile interferometric vibration sensor that operates in reflection mode. To build the device, a short segment of symmetric strongly coupled multicore optical fiber (MCF) is fusion spliced to a single-mode optical fiber (SMF). Fiber-optic delay line using multicore fiber
Bulletin of the Lebedev Physics Institute, 2017A fiber-optic delay line based on a multicore optical fiber is fabricated for the first time. Due to the optical pulse sequential passage over all cores, the time delay of the optical signal of 45.0 μs is obtained at the optical fiber length of only 1300 m. 2006 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference, 2006Microstructured and multi-core fiber lasers were fabricated that have produced more than 1.3 W/cm at 1.5 /spl mu/m. Near 2 W single frequency, single-transverse-mode output was demonstrated.

Coupling characteristics between single-core fiber and multicore fiber
Optics Letters, 2006A simple method for coupling between a single-core single-mode fiber and a multicore single-mode fiber is proposed and demonstrated. An effective coupling approach is based on a process of standard splicing and tapering between the single-core single-mode fiber and the multicore single-mode fiber.

Multicore fiber with ring structure
2013 IEEE Photonics Society Summer Topical Meeting Series, 2013The characteristics of MCFs with one-ring structure are reviewed. The MCFs realize the number of cores larger than 10, suppressed crosstalk and enlarged Aeff under limited cladding diameter in terms of mechanical reliability.
