Randomized controlled trial to determine the impact of probiotic administration on colonization with multidrug-resistant organisms in critically ill patients [PDF]
This was a randomized controlled pilot study of Lactobacillus rhamnosus GG versus standard of care to prevent gastrointestinal multidrug-resistant organism (MDRO) colonization in ICU patients. Seventy subjects were included in analyses.

LL‐37 Driven Phase Transition and Stacking in Oligolamellar Gram‐Negative Bacterial Membrane Models
This work establishes oligolamellar bacterial membrane models to investigate how LL‐37 disrupts the complex dual‐bilayer architecture of Gram‐negative bacteria. Combining SAXS, cryo‐TEM, electrophoretic mobility measurements, and coarse‐grained simulations, it reveals cardiolipin‐driven phase transitions leading to bicelle‐like structures and membrane ...

Sequence analyses of just four genes to detect extensively drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains in multidrug-resistant tuberculosis patients undergoing treatment [PDF]
The rapid detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates resistant to second-line drugs is crucial for the institution of appropriate treatment regimens as early as possible.

Machine learning–guided engineering of a plectasin‐derived peptide yields DC05, a potent antimycobacterial candidate. Encapsulation into tuftsin‐functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles enhances intracellular delivery, stability, and activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis while maintaining low cytotoxicity and minimal hemolysis. The combined

Multistrain models predict sequential multidrug treatment strategies to result in less antimicrobial resistance than combination treatment [PDF]
Background Combination treatment is increasingly used to fight infections caused by bacteria resistant to two or more antimicrobials. While multiple studies have evaluated treatment strategies to minimize the emergence of resistant strains for single ...

Multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Bangui, Central African Republic [PDF]
We investigated multidrug-resistant (MDR) Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains in Bangui, Central African Republic. We found 39.6% with the same spoligotype and synonymous single nucleotide polymorphism in the mutT1 gene.
