Comparison of a new-generation sectorial addition multifocal intraocular lens and a diffractive apodized multifocal intraocular lens

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2012
To compare visual, refractive, and satisfactory outcomes between a new-generation sectorial addition multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) (Lentis Mplus LS-312; study group) and a diffractive apodized multifocal IOL (Restor SN6AD1; control group).Private practice, Driebergen, and Department of Ophthalmology, Academic Medical Center, Amsterdam, The ...

Multifocal intraocular lens to correct presbyopia

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
Due to the loss of the flexibility of the crystalline lens, presbyopia is the most common vision dysfunction for adults after 40. To correct presbyopia, this paper presents a design of a MIOL, which can give extended clear vision range both in photopic vision(3mm pupil diameter) and in the mesopic vision(4.5mm pupil diameter).

Optical performance of an aspheric multifocal intraocular lens

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1991
A five zone, centrosymmetric, multifocal intraocular lens has been developed using a design analysis approach which assumes that the optical image strength (intensity) achieved by an optical zone is linearly proportional to its aperture. The advantages of including an aspheric zone are discussed, and the optical performance of this IOL is characterized

Opacification of Array SA40N silicone multifocal intraocular lens

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2007
We report opacification of 2 multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs). Patients with these IOLs may be more likely to require IOL explantation than those with monofocal IOLs.

Multifocal Intraocular Lenses: FineVision (PhysIOL) Lens

2019
Introduction: The FineVision IOL (PhysIOL, Liege, Belgium) was the first commercially available diffractive trifocal IOL. Methods: We conducted an observational study evaluating the visual outcomes and patient satisfaction 5 years after the Fine Vision IOL implantation. This study included 24 eyes of 12 patients.

Multifocal intraocular lens providing optimized through-focus performance

Optics Letters, 2013
A widespread type of multifocal intraocular lens (MIOL) is based on expanding the depth of focus with specific amounts of spherical aberration. However, knowing the optimal wavefront aberration for multifocality does not directly provide a MIOL geometry. To overcome this issue, we present a new strategy to design MIOLs.

Reading ability with 3 multifocal intraocular lens models

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2006
To prospectively evaluate reading performance with of 3 types of multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) under different lighting conditions based on reading acuity and reading speed tests.Augenklinik, Bad Hersfeld, Germany. This randomized study comprised 60 cataract patients (120 eyes) randomly assigned to receive an SA40N IOL (AMO) (Group 1, 20 patients)

[The multifocal intraocular lens].

Bulletin de la Societe belge d'ophtalmologie, 1991
The new multifocal intraocular lens gives 2 simultaneous foci by combination of conventional refraction and diffraction. The diffraction is induced by circular microsteps on the posterior face of the lens. The first clinical results are good: 3 patients out of 4 obtain a far-vision of 5/10 or better and a near-vision of P3 or better without spectacle ...
