A UAV‐based deep learning pipeline for intertidal macrobenthos monitoring: Behavioral and age classification in Tachypleus tridentatus

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
The endangered tri‐spine horseshoe crab (Tachypleus tridentatus), a “living fossil” crucial to coastal ecology and biomedical research, is experiencing severe population declines. Effective conservation requires efficient monitoring, which traditional methods cannot deliver at scale. We develop an integrated UAV deep learning framework tailored to this

Multifrequency VLBA Monitoring of 3C 273 during the INTEGRAL Campaign in 2003 - I. Kinematics of the Parsec Scale Jet from 43 GHz Data

open access: yes, 2005
In this first of a series of papers describing polarimetric multifrequency Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) monitoring of 3C 273 during a simultaneous campaign with the INTEGRAL gamma-ray satellite in 2003, we present 5 Stokes I images and source models ...

A circuit-theoretic approach to the design of quadruple-mode broadband microstrip patch antennas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A novel method for the design of broadband patch antennas is described. The approach taken is to broadside couple two dual-mode patch antennas, resulting in a quad resonance antenna.

Versatile High‐Sensitivity EPR Using Superconducting Spiral Microresonators

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
A significant sensitivity enhancement in conventional X‐band pulsed EPR is achieved using planar spiral microresonators fabricated from high‐temperature superconducting YBCO. Fully compatible with standard instrumentation, the approach enables high‐fidelity spin control under typical sample conditions.

A Crystalline Bismuth(II) Radical Anion: Synthesis, Characterization, and Reactivity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 49, December 1, 2025.
A T‐shaped Bi(III) trisamide featuring a sterically demanding NNN pincer ligand was prepared. The planarization of the Bi center furnishes a lowest unoccupied molecular orbital with distinct Bi(6p) orbital character which unlocks clean one‐electron reduction to afford a crystalline Bi(II) radical anion.

Increasing the Reuse Potential of High‐Strength Steels by Extending the Fatigue Life through Surface Treatments

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Surface reconditioning through mechanical and electrochemical polishing is shown to extend the fatigue life of predamaged 42CrMo4 steel by over 12 times. By removing ≈100 μm of surface material, surface‐driven fatigue damage is mitigated. This study introduces a reuse potential metric to evaluate fatigue recovery and support sustainable steel reuse. To

Role of reactive oxygen species in mediating peripheral hypoxic vasodilation and sympathoexcitation at high altitude

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend High‐altitude acclimatisation increases muscle sympathetic nerve activity (MSNA) via activation of the arterial chemoreflex, pulmonary arterial baroreceptors and resetting of the sympathetic vascular baroreflex. However attempting to silence these mechanisms only partially normalises MSNA, implicating other contributory ...

Enhancing the Nonlinear Optical Response Using Multifrequency Gold-Nanowire Antennas

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2012
We introduce and experimentally demonstrate the concept of multifrequency optical antennas that are designed for controlling the nonlinear response of materials. These antennas consist of two arms of different lengths, each resonant with one of the incoming frequencies. They are embedded in a nonlinear medium (indium tin oxide) that acts as a receiver.
