Geometrical resonance in magnetic multilayers

Physical Review Letters, 1993
Experimentally, the magnetic coupling strength in Co/TM and Fe/TM multilayer systems, for which TM is a nonmagnetic transition metal, increases dramatically as a function of the electron per atom ratio, e/a, in the TM spacer layers. On the basis of simple model calculations we argue that this effect is a finite resonant increase of the coupling due to ...

Current-Driven Resonances in Magnetic Multilayers

Physical Review Letters, 2002
We describe complex variations in resistance of a Co/Cu multilayer, generated by injection of an adjustable dc current density ( approximately 10(9) A/cm(2)) via a point contact. We attribute these variations to coupling of current-induced spin waves to lattice vibrations, leading especially to current-driven resonant excitations of phonons. We propose

Multilayer resonances sharpened by grating waveguide resonance

Optical and Quantum Electronics, 2004
A multilayer planar structure comprising a highly reflective multilayer dielectric mirror and a corrugated waveguide is proposed for use as a narrow passband optical filter. The proposed filter has a much narrower linewidth than a usual Fabry–Perot cavity with two multilayer dielectric mirrors.

Ferromagnetic resonance in metallic multilayers

AIP Conference Proceedings, 1975
We have developed a method for calculating the power absorbed by metallic multilayers in ferromagnetic resonance, for arbitrary directions of the applied magnetic field. This method also permits the calculation of the power absorbed in each layer of a symmetric structure. The calculation is based on the use of Hoffmann’s equations for the continuity of

Gratings in resonant multilayer structures

SPIE Proceedings, 2000
Enhancement of the free-space diffraction efficiency of titanium-ion implanted gratings by inserting them into multilayer dielectric Fabry-Perot cavities has been demonstrated theoretically in previous works. In this paper, we discuss the sensitivity of the diffraction efficiency to the optogeometrical parameters of the structures obtained using ...
