Molecular Identification Of Trichoderma Strains Collected To Develop Plant Growth-Promoting And Biocontrol Agents

open access: yesJournal of Horticultural Research, 2015
Trichoderma strains that are beneficial to both the growth and health of plants can be used as plant growth-promoting fungi (PGPF) or biological control agents (BCA) in agricultural and horticultural practices.

‘Aeromonas intestinalis’ and ‘Aeromonas enterica’ isolated from human faeces, ‘Aeromonas crassostreae’ from oyster and ‘Aeromonas aquatilis’ isolated from lake water represent novel species

open access: yesNew Microbes and New Infections, 2017
Four Aeromonas strains from clinical and environmental samples differed from known species on the basis of rpoD gene sequence. Multilocus phylogenetic analysis and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization confirmed them as four new species even though their 16S ...

Genotyping Contemporary Captive and Historical Wild Western Lowland Gorillas Indicates Captive Breeding Is Maintaining Genetic Diversity in a Critically Endangered Primate

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Captive populations of threatened species risk losing genetic diversity over time. We evaluated the genetic status of contemporary captive western lowland gorillas (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) at Howletts and Port Lympne and compared this with specimens from a historical wild population.

Analysis of the population structure of Anaplasma phagocytophilum using multilocus sequence typing.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Anaplasma phagocytophilum is a Gram-negative obligate intracellular bacterium that replicates in neutrophils. It is transmitted via tick-bite and causes febrile disease in humans and animals.

Genome sequence of the Chlamydophila abortus variant strain LLG [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Chlamydophila abortus is a common cause of ruminant abortion. Here we report the genome sequence of strain LLG, which differs genotypically and phenotypically from the wild-type strain S26/3.

Testing the morphology‐ and intuition‐based taxonomic hypotheses using integrative approach: unexpected discovery of triplet of sibling species within a widespread Eurasian butterfly, Hyponephele lycaon

open access: yesCladistics, EarlyView.
Abstract In well‐studied groups of organisms, the taxonomic landscape can be very complex, with several alternative classifications describing diversity within the same set of populations. For example, three hypotheses have previously been proposed to describe the taxonomy of the common and widespread Eurasian Dusky Meadow Brown butterfly, Hyponephele ...

Retrospective Identification of Lactococcus petauri Among Archived Isolates From Farmed Fish in Japan: Pathogenicity and Molecular Epidemiology

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Lactococcosis, caused by Lactococcus garvieae, L. formosensis, and L. petauri, is an important bacterial disease of farmed fish worldwide. In Japan, L. petauri has not previously been reported as a cause of lactococcosis, although lactococcosis cases not attributable to either L. garvieae or L. formosensis have been recorded.

Characterization of Pseudomonas syringae pv. syringae, Causal Agent of Citrus Blast of Mandarin in Montenegro

open access: yesThe Plant Pathology Journal, 2017
Citrus blast caused by bacterium Pseudomonas syringae is a very important disease of citrus occuring in many areas of the world, but with few data about genetic structure of the pathogen involved.

The consequences of partial clonality on the spatiotemporal genetic structure of the red alga Chondria tumulosa (Ceramiales, Rhodophyta)

open access: yesJournal of Phycology, EarlyView.
Abstract The relative rates of sexual versus clonal reproduction partition genetic diversity, but the quantification of these rates remains limited in natural populations. This knowledge gap is particularly acute among tropical macroalgae. Chondria tumulosa is a red macroalga that has been documented at high abundance in the three northernmost atolls ...
