Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...

Hybrid Imaging in the Assessment of Myocardial Ischemia and Viability

open access: yesJournal of Interdisciplinary Medicine, 2016
Myocardial ischemia results from a reduction in blood flow as a consequence of a coronary stenosis, which produces ischemia in the myocardial territories irrigated by the stenotic artery.

Peculiar Multimodality on the Horizontal Branch of the Globular Cluster NGC 2808 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We present distributions of colors of stars along the horizontal branch of the globular cluster NGC 2808, from Hubble Space Telescope WFPC2 imaging in B, V, and an ultraviolet filter (F218W).

Preferences of Pediatric Patients and Their Caregivers for Chemotherapy‐Induced Nausea and Vomiting Control Endpoints: A Mixed Methods Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Although not always achieved, complete chemotherapy‐induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) control is the conventional goal of CINV prophylaxis. In this two‐center, mixed‐methods study, we sought to understand the preferences of adolescent patients and family caregivers for CINV control endpoints.

Cardiac Magnetic Resonance and Myocardial Viability: Why Is It so Important?

open access: yesJournal of Interdisciplinary Medicine, 2017
For a better assessment of ischemic heart diseases, myocardial viability should be quantified. Current studies underline the importance and the evolution of several techniques and methods used in the evaluation of myocardial viability.

Feasibility and Safety of High‐Dose Proton Re‐Irradiation in Recurrent Pediatric Central Nervous System Tumors: A Single‐Institution Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors often recur despite multimodality therapy. Although re‐irradiation (re‐RT) has historically been limited by concerns for severe late toxicities, modern techniques have renewed interest in this approach. Proton therapy provides dosimetric advantages that may enable curative re‐treatment with

Pneumo-pyopericardium Mimicking an Acute Myocardial Infarction. A Rare Complication of an Incarcerated Hiatus Hernia and Gastro-pericardial Fistula

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Emergencies, 2016
Pyopericardium is an acquired disease associated with very high complication rates. Pyopericardium is a very rare form of pneumopericardium. The nontraumatic causes of pneumopericardium include gastro-pericardial fistula that can occur in refractory ...

Action in cognition: the case of language [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Empirical research has shown that the processing of words and sentences is accompanied by activation of the brain's motor system in language users. The degree of precision observed in this activation seems to be contingent upon (1) the meaning of a ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.
