Case Report: A rare case of recurrent ascites after anti-Claudin18.2 antibody therapy for metastatic gastric cancer while responding sustainingly

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
BackgroundGastric cancer remains one of the deadliest malignancies in the world, thus urgently requiring effective and safe therapeutics. Claudin18.2 is a member of the tight junction protein family specifically expressed in gastric cancer cells ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

The Role of Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography and Cardiac Magnetic Resonance in STEMI Patients with Normal Coronary Angiography

open access: yesJournal of Interdisciplinary Medicine, 2017
Usually, the diagnosis of myocardial infarction based on patient symptoms, electrocardiogram (ECG) changes, and cardiac enzymes, is not a challenge for cardiologists.

Extra-articular synovial chondromatosis of the ankle: Unusual case with radiologic-pathologic correlation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Extra-articular synovial chondromatosis is a rare entity in the foot and ankle. We present a case of a 49-year-old female who presented for evaluation of a palpable concern following trauma; which was found to represent synovial chondromatosis. This case

Intraduodenal sarcoma recurrence of retroperitoneal origin: an unusual cause for a duodenal obstruction. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Soft tissue sarcomas are uncommon tumors, and intraduodenal soft tissue sarcoma manifestation is even more rare. Only three cases of intraduodenal sarcomas have been reported in the literature thus far.

Proteasome inhibitor, ixazomib prevents topoisomerase‐I degradation and reverses irinotecan resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ixazomib inhibits proteasome‐mediated degradation of topoisomerase I induced by irinotecan, thereby restoring drug sensitivity and promoting tumor cell death in colorectal cancer. Irinotecan, a topoisomerase I (topoI) inhibitor, is widely used for colorectal cancer, but resistance remains a major clinical challenge.

Pneumo-pyopericardium Mimicking an Acute Myocardial Infarction. A Rare Complication of an Incarcerated Hiatus Hernia and Gastro-pericardial Fistula

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Emergencies, 2016
Pyopericardium is an acquired disease associated with very high complication rates. Pyopericardium is a very rare form of pneumopericardium. The nontraumatic causes of pneumopericardium include gastro-pericardial fistula that can occur in refractory ...

Tailgut cyst and perineal hydatid cyst: A case report with multimodality imaging findings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A tailgut cyst is a rare developmental lesion and usually is located in the retrorectal or presacral space. Extrahepatic hydatid disease has been reported in several locations including the pelvis and it often poses a diagnostic challenge. There are very

Multimodal Graph Transformer for Multimodal Question Answering

open access: yesProceedings of the 17th Conference of the European Chapter of the Association for Computational Linguistics, 2023
Despite the success of Transformer models in vision and language tasks, they often learn knowledge from enormous data implicitly and cannot utilize structured input data directly. On the other hand, structured learning approaches such as graph neural networks (GNNs) that integrate prior information can barely compete with Transformer models.
