Multimode Phonon Lasing via Self‐Induced Optical Coherent Pumping

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A silicon optomechanical nanobeam generates self‐sustained phonon lasing in multiple competing mechanical modes via self‐pulsing, an intrinsic optical modulation arising from cavity nonlinearity. This self‐organized mechanism enables robust multi‐frequency operation spanning periodic, quasi‐periodic, and chaotic regimes without external modulation. The

Classification of quantum states of light using random measurements through a multimode fiber

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
Extracting meaningful information about unknown quantum states without performing a full tomography is an important task. Low-dimensional projections and random measurements can provide such insight but typically require careful crafting.

Interfacial Energy and Composition Controlled Self‐Stratification in Polyurethane Coatings

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study elucidates self‐stratification in polyurethane coatings driven by interfacial energies and composition‐dependent phase separation. Using XPS, SIMS, and Raman analyses, we reveal rapid formation of hydrophobic and hydrophilic layers and substrate‐dependent interfacial structures.

Theory of transverse mode instability in fiber amplifiers with multimode excitations

open access: yesAPL Photonics
Transverse Mode Instability (TMI) that results from dynamic nonlinear thermo-optical scattering is the primary limitation to power scaling in high-power fiber lasers and amplifiers.

A Micro-Mach–Zehnder Interferometer Temperature Sensing Design Based on a Single Mode–Coreless–Multimode–Coreless–Single Mode Fiber Cascaded Structure

open access: yesPhotonics
In this paper, a temperature sensing scheme with a miniature MZI structure based on the principle of inter-mode interference is proposed. The sensing structure mainly comprises single mode–coreless–multimode–coreless–single mode fibers (SCMCSs), which ...

Influence of EDTA Coverage Density on Optical Fiber Sensor for Heavy Metal Ion Detection

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
This study investigates the influence of chelating agent coverage on the performance of optical fiber sensors for heavy metal ion detection. Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) was employed to functionalize single‐mode 28 optical fibers (SMF‐28), and the influence of surface coverage uniformity on zinc ion sensing performance was investigated ...
