Optical fiber technology (Print), 2019
A highly sensitive optical fiber strain sensor is presented in this work. The structure of the device consists of cascaded multimode fiber (MMF) and photonic crystal fiber (PCF), fusion spliced with single mode fiber (SMF) at both of its ends.

Bending diameter dependence of mode instabilities in multimode fiber amplifier
Laser Physics Letters, 2019We systematically investigated the dependence of mode instability (MI) thresholds on bending diameters in ytterbium-doped fiber amplifiers. The MI thresholds of a fiber amplifier, which was based on a multimode ytterbium-doped fiber, were measured at ...

High-Spectral-Efficiency Mode-Multiplexed Transmission Over Graded-Index Multimode Fiber
European Conference on Optical Communication, 2018We demonstrate mode-multiplexed $90\times 90$ MIMO transmission over all nine mode groups of a 26.5-km graded-index multimode fiber span, achieving a record spectral efficiency of 202 bit/s/Hz.

Multimode optical fiber network
SPIE Proceedings, 2011This paper presents the multimode passive optical network for LAN (Local Area Network) application. These networks should be cheaper and more usable than single-mode structures. The paper presents possibilities of commercial application of multimode passive networks.

We experimentally demonstrate for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, an all-fiber passively mode-locked laser operation based on the nonlinear multimode interference of step-index multimode fiber.

Multimode fiber based endoscope
Frontiers in Optics 2013, 2013We propose a high-resolution lensless endoscope based on a multimode fiber and digital scanning. Taking advantage of the high number of degrees of freedom allows for an ultra-thin rigid endoscope with a sub-micron resolution.

Bandwidth-enhanced multimode fiber
Optical Engineering, 2007By designing multiple single-mode cores across the multimode fiber core area, this new multimode fiber can support only the fundamental mode or fewer low-order modes propagation to some extent. Therefore, the modal dispersion of the multimode fiber has been suppressed greatly, and the bandwidth is enhanced 6.5 times.
