Imaging with Multimode Fibers

Optics and Photonics News, 2016
Holography and phase conjugation were proposed in the middle 1960's for cor- recting the distortions in imaging systems due to aberrating or scattering media. These early methods have been revisited in recent years and successful experimental demonstrations have been reported with digital holographic methods in which the recording and reconstruction of

Nonlinear Waves in Multimode Fibers

2017
We overview recent advances in the field of nonlinear guided wave propagation in multimode fibers. It is only in recent years that the study of nonlinear optics in multimode fibers has experienced a revival of research interest. Nonlinear arrays of linearly coupled multicore fibers permit spatiotemporal reshaping and coherent combining of ultrashort ...

Multimode Fiber-Optic Accelerometers

SPIE Proceedings, 1984
A basic system is described, using a mechanically modulated reflected signal and a reference signal generated by photoluminescence for compensation of optical intensity variations. Three sensor designs are presented, two using geometrical effects and one using interferometric modulation of the signal.

Microscopy with multimode fibers

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
Microscopes are usually thought of comprising imaging elements such as objectives and eye-piece lenses. A different type of microscope, used for endoscopy, consists of waveguiding elements such as fiber bundles, where each fiber in the bundle transports the light corresponding to one pixel in the image.

Multimode optical fiber network

SPIE Proceedings, 2011
This paper presents the multimode passive optical network for LAN (Local Area Network) application. These networks should be cheaper and more usable than single-mode structures. The paper presents possibilities of commercial application of multimode passive networks.

Multimode fiber based endoscope

Frontiers in Optics 2013, 2013
We propose a high-resolution lensless endoscope based on a multimode fiber and digital scanning. Taking advantage of the high number of degrees of freedom allows for an ultra-thin rigid endoscope with a sub-micron resolution.

Bandwidth-enhanced multimode fiber

Optical Engineering, 2007
By designing multiple single-mode cores across the multimode fiber core area, this new multimode fiber can support only the fundamental mode or fewer low-order modes propagation to some extent. Therefore, the modal dispersion of the multimode fiber has been suppressed greatly, and the bandwidth is enhanced 6.5 times.

Multimode fiber optic sensors

OCEANS 82, 1982
Sperry Research Center and Sperry Corporation have been actively developing fiber optic sensors for a variety of military and commercial applications. Multimode technology has been the preferred approach because appropriate fiber optic components are commercially available.

Multimode fiber based spectrometer

Advanced Photonics 2018 (BGPP, IPR, NP, NOMA, Sensors, Networks, SPPCom, SOF), 2018
A multi-mode fiber functions as a high-resolution, low-loss spectrometer. Wavelength-dependent speckle patterns are used for spectrum recovery. Record-high resolution and extremely broad range of operation are achieved.
