Four-Wave Mixing of a Laser and Its Frequency-Doubled Version in a Multimode Optical Fiber
It is shown that it is possible to couple a laser beam and its frequency-doubled daughter into a multimode optical fiber through the four-wave mixing nonlinear process and generate a new wavelength.

Standard multimode optical fibers normally support transmission over some 100 modes. Large differences in the propagation constant and the spatial distribution of distinct modes degrade the performance of phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometry

Soliton propagation in multimode optical fibers [PDF]
Soliton propagation in a multimode optical fiber in the presence of an intensity-dependent refractive index is investigated by means of a set of nonlinear coupled equations derived in the frame of coupled-mode theory. In particular, the conditions on modal amplitudes and modal dispersion necessary for soliton existence are derived.

Low-cost multimode waveguide couplers for multimode fiber-based local area networks [PDF]
Novel, ultra-compact multimode fiber-matched integrated optical 1×2, 1×3 and 2×2 couplers with low excess losses and large tolerances have been designed and simulated using a fully three-dimensional beam propagation ...

Infrared Fiber
Fiber-based multimode combiners allow for wavelength and power scaling of laser sources while maintaining a common emission aperture and divergence. For applications in the mid-infrared spectral band, chalcogenide glass optical fibers are one of the few ...

Fast and accurate modelling of nonlinear pulse propagation in graded-index multimode fibers [PDF]
We develop a model for the description of nonlinear pulse propagation in multimode optical fibers with a parabolic refractive index profile. It consists in a 1+1D generalized nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation with a periodic nonlinear coefficient, which ...

Multimodal plasmonic optical fiber grating aptasensor
Tilted fiber Bragg gratings (TFBGs) are now a well-established technology in the scientific literature, bringing numerous advantages, especially for biodetection. Significant sensitivity improvements are achieved by exciting plasmon waves on their metal-coated surface.

Novel Method for Improving the Capacity of Optical MIMO System Using MGDM [PDF]
In current local area networks, multimode fibers (MMFs), primarily graded index (GI) MMFs, are the main types of fibers employed for data communications.
