Spatial Beam Cleaning in Multimode GRIN Fibers: Polarization Effects

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2023
The beam self-cleaning effect in graded-index multimode optical fibers has several interesting potential applications, such as high-resolution nonlinear imaging and mode-locked fiber lasers. Most experimental and theoretical studies of beam self-cleaning

Spatial beam self-cleaning and supercontinuum generation with Yb-doped multimode graded-index fiber taper based on accelerating self-imaging and dissipative landscape [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We experimentally demonstrate spatial beam self-cleaning and supercontinuum generation in a tapered Ytterbium-doped multimode optical fiber with parabolic core refractive index profile when 1064 nm pulsed beams propagate from wider (122 µm) into smaller (

All‐Aqueous Pullulan Fibers Enabling Visible‐to‐Near‐Infrared Waveguiding with Mechanical and Thermal Resilience

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Pullulan, a biomass‐derived polysaccharide, is transformed into transparent optical fibers using a solvent‐free borax hydrogel‐spinning method. The fibers outperform PMMA with ≈200 MPa tensile strength and 200 °C stability, while uniquely guiding visible‐to‐NIR light and enabling additive‐free humidity sensing.

Design of a Broadband Fiber Optic Mode Coupler for Multimode Optical Coherence Tomography

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
In this paper, we propose an optical fiber-based broadband mode coupler for multimode optical coherence tomography (OCT) in the O-band (1.26–1.36 μm).

Imaging of Biphoton States: Fundamentals and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Quantum states of two photons exhibit a rich polarization and spatial structure, which provides a fundamental resource of strongly correlated and entangled states. This review analyzes the physics of these intriguing properties and explores the various techniques and technologies available to measure them, including the state of the art of their ...

Complete Polarization Control in Multimode Fibers with Polarization and Mode Coupling

open access: yes, 2017
Multimode optical fibers have seen increasing applications in communication, imaging, high-power lasers and amplifiers. However, inherent imperfections and environmental perturbations cause random polarization and mode mixing, making the output ...

Kerr self-cleaning of pulsed beam in an ytterbium doped multimode fiber [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We experimentally demonstrate that Kerr spatial self-cleaning of a pulsed beam can be obtained in an amplifying multimode optical fiber. An input peak power of 500 W only was sufficient to produce a quasi-single-mode emission from the double-clad ...
