Effect on Communication System of Dispersive Multiplexing in Optical Fiber

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
In order to research on the transmission effect on communication system of dispersive multiplexing in optical fiber, the concept is applied to data transmission over multimode optical fiber, and the result is an optical multiplexing that can increase the

Reflectance Response of Optical Fiber Coated With Carbon Nanotubes for Aqueous Ethanol Sensing

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2014
Ethanol is a highly flammable chemical and is widely used for medical and industrial applications. In this paper, optical sensing performance of aqueous ethanol with different concentrations is investigated using multimode fiber coated with carbon ...

Two-photon imaging through a multimode fiber

open access: yes, 2015
In this work we demonstrate 3D imaging using two-photon excitation through a 20 cm long multimode optical fiber (MMF) of 350 micrometers diameter.

One‐Dimensional Materials Supported in Two‐Dimensional Van der Waals Metal–Organic Frameworks with Optical Anisotropy Switching via Twist‐Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a molecular strategy to assemble one‐dimensional (1D) materials into two‐dimensional (2D) van der Waals metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Crystals of [FeX(pzX)(bpy)] (X = Cl, F) form anisotropic 2D layers that can be mechanically exfoliated into thin sheets.

Generalized modulational instability in multimode fibers: wideband multimode parametric amplification

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper intermodal modulational instability (IM-MI) is analyzed in a multimode fiber where several spatial and polarization modes propagate. The coupled nonlinear Schr\"{o}dinger equations describing the modal evolution in the fiber are linearized ...

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Think Outside the Fiber: Imaging Amplifier for Space-Multiplexed Optical Transmission

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2012
This paper proposes a simple and practical method to amplify signals for space-multiplexed optical transmission. In this amplification technique, the output facet of the multicore or multimode fiber is mapped back to the same type of fiber after passing ...

Quasi‐Single‐Mode Polaritonic Crystal for Hyperbolic Phonon‐Polaritons

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Near‐field study of the polaritonic Fourier crystal with α‐MoO3 reveals that the hyperbolic phonon‐polaritons within the Type‐I Reststrahlen band may form a quasi‐single‐mode Bloch wave where only the fundamental mode propagates in the crystal. Our results demonstrate the realization of a quasi‐single‐mode regime for the inherently multimode hyperbolic

Highly Nonlinear Multimode Tellurite Fibers: From Glass Synthesis to Practical Applications in Multiphoton Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, 2023
Herein, a tellurite multimode optical fiber with a rectangular step‐index core to combine easy coupling of the pump power with the exceptionally cubic nonlinearity of such type of glass is developed.

Photochromic Diarylethene‐doped SU‐8 for Rewritable Optics and Integrated Photonic Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A CMOS‐compatible photochromic host–guest material platform is realized by incorporating diarylethene molecules into SU‐8 photoresist. Reversible photoisomerization enables light‐programmable optical absorption, allowing rewritable optical patterning and port‐selective attenuation in integrated waveguides.
