Academy of Management Proceedings, 2006This paper contributes to the discussion on international diversification and corporate social responsibility by suggesting that firms can be both socially responsible and irresponsible simultaneously. To test our assertions, we analyze data from 222 publicly traded U.S. firms from 1993 to 2003.
