Adaptive equaliser for multipath channels
An adaptive equalising system is described which makes possible efficient communication of serial digital data over a multipath channel, within certain limitations of the severity of the multipath. This technique is particularly suitable for two paths of comparable strength.

Directive Antenna Clutter Loss in Slant Paths
ABSTRACT This paper investigates the development of a clutter loss model specifically for slant paths involving directive antennas. Conventionally, clutter loss is characterized by using isotropic antennas to facilitate standard link budget calculations via single antenna gain values.

Integrating Image Segmentation and Deep Learning to Improve Radio Frequency Propagation Models
ABSTRACT This paper proposes a multi‐sensor approach to improve radio frequency (RF) propagation models, which play a key role in the rapidly expanding field of connected vehicle technology. Focusing on the 1‐ to 20‐GHz frequency range, which is critical for both satellite‐to‐vehicle and base station‐to‐vehicle communications, our study introduces a ...

Effective Capacity Analysis Over Generalized Composite Fading Channels
A performance analysis of the effective capacity in two recently proposed generalized composite fading channels, namely $\kappa $ - $\mu $ /inverse gamma and $\eta $ - $\mu $ /inverse gamma composite fading channels, is conducted. To this end, accurate

Differentiable architecture search-based automatic modulation recognition for multi-carrier signals
Considering the lack of a general multi-carrier signal dataset in urban multipath channels, and the challenge of recognizing the modulation types of distorted signals at low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), a differentiable architecture search-based (DARTS ...

ABSTRACT This paper reviews how large‐scale mobility data can enhance economic analyses, highlighting its contributions to understanding travel behavior, labor markets, social interactions, and health outcomes. We discuss its advantages over traditional mobility data sources, which include real‐time location information and fine spatial resolution ...

Validation of ShakeMaps Created From Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Velocities
Ground velocity observations generated through a time difference of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) phase observables and orbits have been shown to be comparable to seismic recordings without clipping during intense ground motions. Computing GNSS velocities is also computationally scalable and increases the density of ground motion ...

Abstract Passive acoustic recording is a cost‐effective method for monitoring vocal animals. Within this field, there is an increasing focus on automated detection algorithms for counting calls and estimating call density (in space and time). For accurate interpretation of such results, it is important to understand and correct biases introduced by ...
