Multipath propagation for helicopter-to-ground MIMO links

2011 - MILCOM 2011 Military Communications Conference, 2011
Air-to-ground communication for aeronautical telemetry is often impaired by multipath propagation, particularly when the aircraft is near the flight-line. This paper experimentally studies such a channel using measurements from multiple antennas on a helicopter to multiple receiving antennas on the ground as the helicopter maneuvers on a taxiway near ...

Automotive Radar Multipath Propagation in Uncertain Environments

2018 21st International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC), 2018
Future use of high-resolution near range radar sensors for vehicle environment perception is facing challenges in terms of detection and correct assignment of multipath reflections (false-positives) from surfaces and obstacles. This paper presents a novel geometric model to determine the relative positions from surrounding targets and reflection ...

Indoor Multipath Propagation Characteristic at 60GHz

TENCON 2006 - 2006 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2006
Delay profiles of indoor multipath environment at 60 GHz were measured. Packets included preamble with two msequences were used for measurement. Time-delay resolution of delay profiles was 1 ns. The measurement results showed that multipath delayed waves at 60 GHz were separable.

Multipath Propagation Effects of UWB Radars

2006 International Conference on Microwaves, Radar & Wireless Communications, 2006
The propagation of ultra wide band (UWB) signals is analyzed. The UWB radar output signals are formed both with transmitter and antenna. Moreover, they can be substantially affected due to electromagnetic wave propagation through walls and multipath effects. Multipath effects are analyzed and simulated numerically for various cases with several heights

Simulation of multipath propagation inside building

Proceedings of ICC '93 - IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2002
Preliminary studies are required in order to use microwaves as support of information transmission inside buildings because of the problems of multipath propagation. Simulations based on the uniform theory of diffraction (UTD) are presented. The first example concerns diffraction phenomena due to an elementary wedge formed by two walls.

A deterministic tool for multipath propagation modelling

IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium, 2004., 2004
Mobile communications are influenced by multipath effects. Radio wave propagation over urban and natural terrain depends on topography and morphography. A simulation tool, URBES (urban ray beam electromagnetic simulator), is presented. It is based on astigmatic beam tracing (ABT), a deterministic method which combines ray and beam tracing.

Multipath propagation and the optimal SNR for adaptive arrays

ICASSP-88., International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2003
The author investigates the optimal output SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) for adaptive arrays. His main interest is what happens in the case of coherent multipath propagation. He casts the multipath into a statistical framework and derives an approximation of the average optimal SNR.

Cooperative simultaneous localization and mapping by exploiting multipath propagation

IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2016
An affordable and reliable indoor positioning is a highly needed service. Moreover, maps of the indoor environment are vital to many applications. In this paper, a method for joint localization and mapping using multipath delay estimates is developed.

Introduction to multipath propagation

2012
Multipath propagation produces different versions of the transmitted signal which combine in the receiver. Multiple paths can be produced by reflection or scattering from the ground or objects such as buildings, inhomogeneity of atmospheric refractivity or multiple ray paths through the ionosphere.

Polarization sensitive multipath propagation modeling

2013 IX Internatioal Conference on Antenna Theory and Techniques, 2013
The polarization structure research of the receiving antenna excited by arbitrary field is carried out. The necessary ratios, characterizing the optimal polarization antenna's structure are determined by the criteria of maximal and minimal received signal's power. An advantage of received power is estimated for an optimal polarization.
