A Scalable and Integrated Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 12, Issue 1, 7 January 2026.
A scalable X‐band reconfigurable intelligent surface is presented using one‐bit phase‐tunable unit cells with integrated FPGA control. The RIS supports fast, high‐speed reconfiguration through WiFi, LAN, and USB interfaces and can be scaled to multiple tiles. The design achieves over 20 dBi broadside gain and reliable 2D beam steering in both elevation

Evaluation of Juvenile Salmon Behavior to Inform Downstream Fish Passage Development at a High Head Dam

open access: yesRiver Research and Applications, Volume 42, Issue 1, Page 30-39, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Fish passage development is a priority at Tieton Dam, on the Tieton River in Washington state, because passage options were not included when the dam was constructed nearly 100 years ago. To inform downstream passage design, we conducted a study to evaluate migration and near‐dam behavior of juvenile salmon.

TranQuiL: Long Range Detection and Localization of Interference in Radio Quiet Zones

open access: yesRadio Science, Volume 61, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Radio Quiet Zones (RQZs) have been established to prevent radio sources from causing harmful interference to sensitive radio telescopes, which study extremely faint cosmic radio waves. Even with strict regulations, such interference is growing due to the widespread use of consumer electronics, emitting in many different frequency bands ...

Resilient availability and bandwidth-aware multipath provisioning for media transfer over the internet (Best Paper Award) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Traditional routing in the Internet is best-effort. Path differentiation including multipath routing is a promising technique to be used for meeting QoS requirements of media intensive applications. Since different paths have different characteristics in

Impacts of Space Weather‐Induced Satellite Navigation Errors on UAV Path Planning and Energy Consumption

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Space weather disturbances can degrade satellite navigation accuracy, posing operational challenges for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) missions that require precise path planning. This study investigates the impact of space weather‐induced horizontal navigation errors on UAV flight distance and energy consumption through a simulation‐based ...

A topology-oblivious routing protocol for NDN-VANETs

open access: yes, 2018
Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) are characterized by intermittent connectivity, which leads to failures of end-to-end paths between nodes. Named Data Networking (NDN) is a network paradigm that deals with such problems, since information is forwarded ...

Performance Optimisation Framework for Wireless Sensor Networks Based on Multi‐Algorithm Collaboration

open access: yesIET Networks, Volume 15, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper proposes an integrated optimisation framework for wireless sensor networks (WSNs) by combining improved genetic algorithm (GA), particle swarm optimisation (PSO) and nondominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA‐II). The framework effectively addresses key challenges such as single‐node failure, latency‐energy trade‐offs and routing ...
