Multiphase models of flotation machine behaviour

International Journal of Mineral Processing, 1978
Abstract Models in which the cell contents are partitioned into distinct pulp and froth phases are reviewed critically. The nature of the mixing within the phases is discussed. Multiphase models describing froth column concentration gradients and pulp residence time effects are mentioned.

Multiphase machines used in electric vehicles propulsion

Proceedings of the International Conference on ELECTRONICS, COMPUTERS and ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE - ECAI-2013, 2013
Multi-phase (more than three-phase) motor drive systems have attracted much attention in recent years due to some inherent advantages which they offer when compared to the three-phase counterpart. Presently the grid power available is only limited to three-phase so the supply to multi-phase motors is invariably given from power electronic converters ...

Modelling of Multiphase Twin Screw Machines

2018
Twin screw compressors used in refrigeration, gas and air compression represent approximately 80% of the millions of industrial positive displacement compressors produced globally each year. More than 95% of these are oil injected. Oil injected twin screw compressor is just one type of multiphase screw machines.

Multiphase electrical machines and drives in the transportation electrification

2015 IEEE 1st International Forum on Research and Technologies for Society and Industry Leveraging a better tomorrow (RTSI), 2015
Transport industry is facing a paradigm shift towards the most promising and sustainable solution represented by the transportation electrification. This concept has not only been adopted for the propulsion powertrains, but also for the auxiliary systems. Indeed, in the last few decades electrification has come to smart actuators to improve both safety

Behavior of multiphase induction machines with unbalanced stator windings

8th IEEE Symposium on Diagnostics for Electrical Machines, Power Electronics & Drives, 2011
Multiphase drives are receiving an increasing attention by the research community in high power applications. In this paper the behavior of multiphase induction machines with an odd number of phases is investigated under the assumption that the stator winding is unbalanced owing to a fault or an incipient damage.

Derating of Multiphase Induction Machines Due to Supply Imbalance

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2009
Open-loop variable-voltage variable-frequency control should offer an effective control strategy in many applications of multiphase machines, but increasing the number of phases can make the machine more sensitive to imbalance in the supply voltage, causing unequal current sharing between phases.

Behavior of multiphase induction machines with unbalanced stator resistances

2012 15th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (EPE/PEMC), 2012
Multiphase drives are adopted mainly in high power applications, where the fault detection plays a key role in reducing the maintenance costs and preserving the machine integrity. Fault diagnostics is crucial also for all the applications requiring a high degree of reliability, such as aerospace or marine applications.

Analysis of multiphase induction machines with winding faults

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2006
The paper shows how the techniques of generalized harmonic analysis may be used to simulate the steady-state behavior of a multiphase cage induction motor with any form of open-circuit or short-circuit fault in the stator winding. The analytical model is verified using a four-pole machine with a 48-slot stator.

Multiphase machines in propulsion drives of electric vehicles

Proceedings of 14th International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference EPE-PEMC 2010, 2010
Multiphase electric drives have been recently proposed for applications where the highest overall system reliability and power distribution per phase are required. The propulsion drive of an Electric Vehicle (EV) is one of these applications. This paper deals with the use of a five-phase induction machine in the propulsion module of EVs, where the ...

Multiphase Electric Machines for Variable-Speed Applications

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2008
Although the concept of variable-speed drives, based on utilization of multiphase machines, dates back to the late 1960s, it was not until the mid- to late 1990s that multiphase drives became serious contenders for various applications. These include electric ship propulsion, locomotive traction, electric and hybrid electric vehicles, ldquomore ...
