The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Hydrogeological multiple-point statistics inversion by adaptive sequential Monte Carlo

open access: yes, 2022
For strongly non-linear and high-dimensional inverse problems, Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods may fail to properly explore the posterior probability density function (PDF) given a realistic computational budget and are generally poorly amenable ...

Ubiquitination of secretory granules promotes their crinophagic degradation in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ubiquitination of secretory granules in Drosophila larval salivary glands is a critical molecular trigger for crinophagy, the lysosomal degradation of unreleased, or low‐quality granules. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cnot4 is recruited to the surface of secretory granules to induce crinophagy.

Optimisation issues in 3D multiple-point statistics simulation

open access: yes, 2008
, 2008Multiple-point statistics simulation has gained wide acceptance in recent years and is routinely used for simulating geological heterogeneity in hydrocarbon reservoirs and aquifers.

USING MULTIPLE-POINT STATISTICS FOR MODELING A VEIN TYPE GOLD DEPOSIT

open access: yes, 2023
The main causes of geological uncertainty in development of mines consist of inaccuracy from geological domains and uncertainty in metal grades (Emery, 2007). Because geological domains typically influence how the grade is distributed, these two types of

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Addressing conditioning data in multiple-point statistics simulation algorithms based on a multiple grid approach

open access: yes, 2014
Multiple-point statistics (MPS) allows simulations reproducing structures of a conceptual model given by a training image (TI) to be generated within a stochastic framework.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...
