The multiple sleep latency test: comparison of sleep onset criteria. [PDF]

open access: yesSleep, 1997
Determining sleep latency is one of the cornerstones of the interpretation of the multiple sleep latency test (MSLT). The purpose of this study was to compare various criteria used to determine sleep onset. We prospectively analyzed 100 consecutive MSLTs that were performed according to a standardized protocol.

Actigraphy, the alternative way?

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2014
The gold standards for measurement of sleep and wake are polysomnography (PSG) and the multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) and will remain so. Actigraphy is cheap, less labor intensive for the sleep laboratory and gives no burden for the patient.

How Should the Multiple Sleep Latency Test Be Analyzed? [PDF]

open access: yesSleep, 1997
Results of the multiple sleep latency test (MSLT) are commonly recorded as 4-5 latencies to sleep onset, together with their mean. The suitability of these and other MSLT measures of daytime sleep tendency was examined in 111 non-narcoleptic patients of a sleep disorders center.

Sleep architecture in idiopathic hypersomnia: the influence of age, sex, and body mass index

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study aimed to progress the understanding of idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) by assessing the moderating influence of individual characteristics, such as age, sex, and body mass index (BMI) on sleep architecture.

Clinical and Polysomnographic Comparison between Narcolepsy without Cataplexy and Idiopathic Hypersomnia [PDF]

open access: yesSleep Medicine Research, 2012
Background and Objective The aim of this study is to compare the clinical, electrophysiological (Polysomnography, PSG; Multiple Sleep Latency Test, MSLT) and biological data (HLA DQB1*0602 typing) in idiopathic hypersomnia with narcolepsy without ...

Better quality sleep promotes daytime physical activity in patients with chronic pain? : A multilevel analysis of the within-person relationship [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Promoting physical activity is key to the management of chronic pain, but little is understood about the factors facilitating an individual’s engagement in physical activity on a day-to-day basis. This study examined the within-person effect

Circadian and ultradian NREM-REM sleep modulation of dream recall : effects of age and spectral activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis deals with the electrophysiological correlates of sleep prior to dream recall and the age-related effects on dream processing. The dual NREM/REM sleep cycle and the circadian modulation of REM sleep sum to generate dream processing.
