Distinct dysregulated pathways in sporadic and Lynch syndrome‐associated colorectal cancer offer insights for targeted treatment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study explores the distinct molecular mechanisms underlying Lynch syndrome‐associated and sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC). By highlighting the therapeutic potential of targeting the PI3K‐Akt pathway in Lynch syndrome‐associated CRC and the Wnt pathway in sporadic CRC, the findings open avenues for personalised treatment strategies, aiming to ...

Multiple star systems observed with CoRoT and Kepler

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2015
The CoRoT and Kepler satellites were the first space platforms designed to perform high-precision photometry for a large number of stars. Multiple systems display a wide variety of photometric variability, making them natural benefactors of these ...

On some explicit evaluations of multiple zeta-star values [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
In this paper, we give some explicit evaluations of multiple zeta-star values which are rational multiple of powers of $\pi^2$.

First evidence of multiple populations along the AGB from Str\"omgren photometry

open access: yes, 2017
Spectroscopic studies have demonstrated that nearly all Galactic globular clusters (GCs) harbour multiple stellar populations with different chemical compositions.

Immunoregulatory mechanisms of the arachidonic acid pathway in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The central role of the arachidonic acid (AA) pathway in anticancer immunity. Enzymes and metabolites of the AA pathway can play both immunosuppressive and immunostimulatory roles in the tumor microenvironment. Therefore, their tailored targeting could be beneficial as a standalone therapy or in combination with current cancer immunotherapy.

TIC 290061484: A Triply Eclipsing Triple System with the Shortest Known Outer Period of 24.5 Days

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We have discovered a triply eclipsing triple-star system, TIC 290061484, with the shortest known outer period, P _out , of only 24.5 days. This “eclipses” the previous record set by λ Tauri at 33.02 days, which held for 68 yr.

Tidal Disruption Events from Eccentric Orbits and Lessons Learned from the Noteworthy ASASSN-14ko

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Stars grazing supermassive black holes (SMBHs) on bound orbits may survive tidal disruption, causing periodic flares. Inspired by the recent discovery of the periodic nuclear transient ASASSN-14ko, a promising candidate for a repeating tidal disruption ...

Analogues of cyclic insertion type identities for multiple zeta star values [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We prove an identity for multiple zeta star values, which generalises some identities due to Imatomi, Tanaka, Tasaka and Wakabayashi. This identity gives an analogue of cyclic insertion type identities, for multiple zeta star values, and connects the block decomposition with Zhao's generalised 2-1 formula.

Towards Multiple-Star Population Synthesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The multiplicities of stars, and some other properties, were collected recently by Eggleton & Tokovinin, for the set of 4559 stars with Hipparcos magnitude brighter than 6.0 (4558 excluding the Sun). In this paper I give a numerical recipe for constructing, by a Monte Carlo technique, a theoretical ensemble of multiple stars that resembles the observed

Selected topics in the evolution of low-mass stars

open access: yes, 2012
Low-mass stars play a key role in many different areas of astrophysics. In this article, I provide a brief overview of the evolution of low-mass stars, and discuss some of the uncertainties and problems currently affecting low-mass stellar models ...
