Accelerated Event Times with Multiple Thresholds

open access: yesTechnometrics, 2023
In some systems lowering any one of several stress variables limits the extent to which the others are able to accelerate random event times. That is, each stress variable can cap acceleration of the time to failure distribution, independent of the ...

Multiple-Threshold Transmission of Affective Disorders

Archives of General Psychiatry, 1981
Data on bipolar and unipolar affective disorders were gathered on first-degree relatives of 255 patients with both illness types. As consistent with a model of continuous liability, bipolar probands were found to have more bipolar relatives and more relatives with any affective disorder than unipolar probands.

Nonlinear diffusion with multiple edginess thresholds

Pattern Recognition, 1994
Abstract Nonlinear diffusion has been shown very effective in edge-preserved smoothing of images. However, the existing nonlinear diffusion models suffer several drawbacks: sensitivity to the choice of the conductance parameter, limited range of edge enhancement, and sensitivity to the selection of evolution time.

Flicker Fusion Thresholds in Multiple Sclerosis

Archives of Neurology And Psychiatry, 1957
Problem The visual flicker-fusion threshold (FFT)* has been reported to be lower in patients with brain damage than in persons free from such pathology.1-6Most of these studies have been concerned with the effects of damage to the gray matter of the brain, especially to the frontal and occipital lobes, and the relationship of this damage to FFT.

Threshold Representations of Multiple Semiorders

SIAM Journal on Algebraic Discrete Methods, 1987
Cozzens and Roberts recently proved a variant of the Scott and Suppes representation theorem for semiorders. They treated nested pairs of semiorders, but stated as open the corresponding problem with any number of relations. A solution is described which even alleviates the condition and the proof in the case of two relations. Moreover, representations

The multiple threshold race

2021
The aim of this thesis is to develop a mathematical method to expand simple binary choice models to account for confidence judgements, with an applied focus on recognition memory experiments. More broadly I aim to set out a mathematical method that allows simple evidence accumulator models to explain more complex decisions where responses can be ...

Multiple contour segmentation with automatic thresholding

Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003. ISCAS '03., 2003
This research proposes a scheme to quickly search for multiple contours. By selecting only two points on the image, the initial line formed by these two points would reveal the points intersected with contours. With these points on the contour outlining the boundaries of an object, its closed-form contour would be detected.
