Detecting separate time scales in genetic expression data
Background Biological processes occur on a vast range of time scales, and many of them occur concurrently. As a result, system-wide measurements of gene expression have the potential to capture many of these processes simultaneously.

Using Virtual Reaction Scheme in the Multiple Time Scales System for Stochastic Modelling
A virtual reaction scheme and the notion of quasi-independent is proposed in this paper to assist in model partitioning for the biochemical reactions with multiple time scales.

Multiple time scales of bank-full discharge in the Yellow River
Under the influence of climate changes, the hydrologic system has the characteristics of multiple time scales. The bank-full discharge,as a function of inflow conditions, also has the characteristics of multiple time scales. This phenomenon was studied based

Identifying Urban Residents’ Activity Space at Multiple Geographic Scales Using Mobile Phone Data
Residents’ activity space reflects multiple aspects of human life related to space, time, and type of activity. How to measure the activity space at multiple geographic scales remains a problem to be solved.

Limitations of the Method of Multiple-Time-Scales
In the Method of Multiple-Time-Scales (MMTS), the introduction of independent time scales and the elimination of secular terms in the fast time variable, T0 = t, lead to the well-known solvability conditions. Starting from first order, free terms (solutions of the unperturbed equations) emerge in every order in the expansion of the approximate solution.

The Hilbert–Huang transform (HHT) has been used as a powerful tool for analyzing nonlinear and nonstationary time series. Soil loss is controlled by complicated physical processes and thus fluctuates with nonlinearity and nonstationarity over time.

Testing the method of multiple scales and the averaging principle for model parameter estimation of quasiperiodic two time-scale models [PDF]
summary:Some dynamical systems are characterized by more than one time-scale, e.g. two well separated time-scales are typical for quasiperiodic systems.

Metric Based Upscaling for Partial Differential Equations with a Continuum of Scales [PDF]
Numerical upscaling of problems with multiple scale structures have attracted increasing attention in recent years. In particular, problems with non-separable scales pose a great challenge to mathematical analysis and simulation.
