On the Order of wh-Phrases in Bulgarian Multiple wh-Fronting [PDF]
The article discusses multiple wh-movement in Bulgarian and argues that: 1) the order of wh-phrases in Bulgarian multiple wh-fronting reflects, up to the finest degree, their pre-wh-movement order, and 2) all cases which seem to go against preservation of order (leading to seeming violations of Superiority) involve selective movements.

Multiple spell-out approach to wh-fronting [PDF]
This thesis adopts the framework of the Phase Theory as outlined in Chomsky (2000; 2001) and puts forward a novel approach to wh-question formation. It compares a single wh-fronting language (English) with a multiple wh-fronting language (Polish) and ...

Mandarin overt wh-fronting as focus movement [PDF]
This study reexamines the syntactic encoding of information structure embodied by Mandarin overt wh-fronting questions. The sentence patterns that this paper is concerned with are wh-questions containing one or more fronted wh-phrases surfacing in (i) a ...

The superiority effect in Albanian multiple wh-movement structures [PDF]
This study examines the order of wh-phrases in Albanian multiple wh-questions. Despite SVO and OVS orders, I argue that Albanian wh-movement displays the superiority effect, through a mechanism generating a rightmost highest specifier.

Acquisition of superiority effects in multiple wh-questions
In this study, we ask when English-acquiring children begin to understand multiple wh-questions such as (1). We probe this using children’s sensitivity to a constraint on multiple question formation known as the superiority effect.

Scrambling in German and Japanese: adjunction versus multiple specifiers [PDF]
This paper argues that short (clause-internal) scrambling to a pre-subject position has A properties in Japanese but A'-properties in German, while long scrambling (scrambling across sentence boundaries) from finite clauses, which is possible in Japanese

Conversion‐induced sulfur expansion generates strong mechanical constraints and localized stresses within solid‐state Li‐S cathodes. Heterogeneous solid‐electrolyte confinement creates tensile strain‐energy hotspots that govern particle cracking. Larger sulfur particles accelerate fracture, while higher porosity relaxes constraint and delays damage ...

Wh-Scoping in Syntactic Wh-Fronting Languages [PDF]
This paper examines various types of syntactic wh-fronting languages in order to offer a non-derivational account of wh-scoping in these languages. While English is commonly regarded as a typical wh-fronting language, it also exhibits an in-situ type of ...

Combining field‐effect surface passivation of a narrow‐bandgap tin–lead perovskite by diammonium ions with introducing oleyl‐based amphiphiles to create insulating interface layers between the absorber and the adjacent hole and electron transporting layers increases the open‐circuit voltage to 91.5% of the detailed‐balance limit and enhances the power ...
