Ultrabright Fluorescent Silica Nanoparticles for Multiplexed Detection

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2020
Fluorescent tagging is a popular method in biomedical research. Using multiple taggants of different but resolvable fluorescent spectra simultaneously (multiplexing), it is possible to obtain more comprehensive and faster information about various ...

Multiplexing Free-Space Channels using Twisted Light [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We experimentally demonstrate an interferometric protocol for multiplexing optical states of light, with potential to become a standard element in free-space communication schemes that utilize light endowed with orbital angular momentum (OAM).

Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

A Parallelized Nanofluidic Device for High-Throughput Optical DNA Mapping of Bacterial Plasmids

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
Optical DNA mapping (ODM) has developed into an important technique for DNA analysis, where single DNA molecules are sequence-specifically labeled and stretched, for example, in nanofluidic channels.

Direct fiber vector eigenmode multiplexing transmission seeded by integrated optical vortex emitters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Spatial modes have received substantial attention over the last decades and are used in optical communication applications. In fiber-optic communications, the employed linearly polarized modes and phase vortex modes carrying orbital angular momentum can ...

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

N-Acetyltyrosine as a Biomarker of Parenteral Nutrition Administration in First-Tier Newborn Screening Assays

open access: yesInternational Journal of Neonatal Screening
Parenteral nutrition (PN) is a nutrient solution administered intravenously (IV) to premature babies. PN causes elevations of some amino acids in blood samples that are also biomarkers used in newborn screening (NBS).
