Secure Air Traffic Control at the Hub of Multiplexing on the Centrifugo-Pneumatic Lab-on-a-Disc Platform

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
Fluidic larger-scale integration (LSI) resides at the heart of comprehensive sample-to-answer automation and parallelization of assay panels for frequent and ubiquitous bioanalytical testing in decentralized point-of-use/point-of-care settings.

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Concurrent Viewing of H&E and Multiplex Immunohistochemistry in Clinical Specimens

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background/Objectives: Performing hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on the same specimen slide provides advantages that include specimen conservation and the ability to combine the H&E context with biomarker expression ...

Direct fiber vector eigenmode multiplexing transmission seeded by integrated optical vortex emitters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Spatial modes have received substantial attention over the last decades and are used in optical communication applications. In fiber-optic communications, the employed linearly polarized modes and phase vortex modes carrying orbital angular momentum can ...

Multiplex Sampling

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1963
The problem of estimating desired characteristics of a response $X$, where $X = h(y)$ and $y$ is a vector random variable with statistically independent components from known distributions, may be handled by standard Monte Carlo techniques. We are interested in the generalization where several distributions are of interest, one at a time, for each ...

Steatocystoma multiplex

open access: yesDermatology Online Journal, 2003
A 25-year-old man with a 20-year history of asymptomatic nodules on his arms and trunk, which histopathological analysis showed to be consistent with steatocystoma multiplex, is presented. Steatocystoma multiplex is a disorder characterized by multiple, asymptomatic, dermal cysts that usually occur on the trunk and proximal aspects of the extremities ...

Tumor clusters with divergent inflammation and human retroelement expression determine the clinical outcome of patients with serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Analysis of treatment‐naïve high‐grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC) and control tissues for ERVs, LINE‐1 (L1), inflammation, and immune checkpoints identified five clusters with diverse patient recurrence‐free survivals. An inflammation score was calculated and correlated with retroelement expression, where one novel cluster (Triple‐I) with high ...

Visualizing Synaptic Multi-Protein Patterns of Neuronal Tissue With DNA-Assisted Single-Molecule Localization Microscopy

open access: yesFrontiers in Synaptic Neuroscience, 2021
The development of super-resolution microscopy (SRM) has widened our understanding of biomolecular structure and function in biological materials. Imaging multiple targets within a single area would elucidate their spatial localization relative to the ...

Optical data storage using orthogonal wavelength multiplexed volume holograms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We propose a volume holographic data storage scheme that employs counterpropagating reference and image beams and wavelength multiplexing for page differentation. This method is compared with that based on angular multiplexing. A reduction in holographic
