Parent‐to‐Child Information Disclosure in Pediatric Oncology

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Despite professional consensus regarding the importance of open communication with pediatric cancer patients about their disease, actual practice patterns of disclosure are understudied. Extant literature suggests a significant proportion of children are not told about their diagnosis/prognosis, which is purported to negatively ...

Existence of infinitely solutions for a modified nonlinear Schrodinger equation via dual approach

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2018
In this article, we focus on the existence of infinitely many weak solutions for the modified nonlinear Schrodinger equation $$ -\Delta u+V(x) u-[\Delta(1+u^2)^{\alpha/2}]\frac{\alpha u}{2(1+u^2) ^{\frac{2-\alpha}2}}=f(x,u),\quad \text{in } \mathbb{

Genetic diversity in Plasmodium falciparum merozoite surface protein 1 and 2 coding genes and its implications in malaria epidemiology: a review of published studies from 1997–2007 [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vector Borne Diseases, 2009
A major characteristic of human malaria parasites is their genetic diversity and an increasing number of studies have been reported on the epidemiology of Plasmodium falciparum, mainly focusing on the polymorphism of merozoite surface protein (MSP) 1 and

Parity and generalized multiplicity

open access: yes, 1991
Assuming that X and Y are Banach spaces and that T is a path of linear Fredholm operators with invertible endpoints, in [F-Pl] we defined a homotopy invariant "the parity of T .

Prolonged Corrected QT Interval as an Early Electrocardiographic Marker of Cyclophosphamide‐Induced Cardiotoxicity in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Cyclophosphamide (CY) is associated with potentially fatal cardiotoxicity, yet no electrocardiographic indices have been established for early detection of CY‐induced cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to determine whether corrected QT interval (QTc) prolongation can predict early onset of CY‐related cardiac dysfunction in pediatric ...

New estimates of Hilbert-Kunz multiplicities for local rings of fixed dimension

open access: yes, 2012
We present results on the Watanabe-Yoshida conjecture for the Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity of a local ring of positive characteristic. By improving on a "volume estimate" giving a lower bound for Hilbert-Kunz multiplicity, we obtain the conjecture when the ...

A Systematic Review of Evidence on the Clinical Effectiveness of Surveillance Imaging in Children With Medulloblastoma and Ependymoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Surveillance imaging aims to detect tumour relapse before symptoms develop, but it's unclear whether earlier detection of relapse leads to better outcomes in children and young people (CYP) with medulloblastoma and ependymoma. This systematic review aims to identify relevant literature to determine the efficacy of surveillance magnetic ...

Hiraeth, or queering time in archives otherwise

open access: yesAlphaville: Journal of Film and Screen Media, 2019
Archives are the physical manifestations of our collective understanding of history, a way of proving and so legitimising the existence of cultures, practices, and peoples.

Novel Multiplicity and Stability Criteria for Non-Isothermal Fixed-Bed Reactors

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2021
With the increasing need to utilize carbon dioxide, fixed-bed reactors for catalytic hydrogenation will become a decisive element for modern chemicals and energy carrier production.

Comments on the observation of high multiplicity events at the LHC

open access: yes, 2011
We analyze the structure of the high multiplicity events observed by the CMS collaboration at the LHC. We argue that the bulk of the observed correlations is due to the production of a pair of jets with p_t > 15 GeV/c.
