Impact resistance analysis using multiply fabric orientations

open access: closed2015 Fourth International Conference on Aerospace Science and Engineering (ICASE), 2015
A comprehensive analysis has been presented, directing to study experimentally the impact effect on multi-ply angled fabric. This paper investigates experimentally the energy absorption in altered panel structure. The low velocity impact (Charpy Impact Testing) test was done onto numerous woven fiber panels.

Study on the Ballistic Performance of Multiply Wadded Through-the-thickness Angle-interlock Fabric Reinforced Composites

open access: closedApplied Composite Materials, 2021
The paper presents a study on the ballistic performance of 3D woven wadded through-the-thickness angle-interlock fabrics (TTAI) fabric reinforced composites. Their energy absorption and damage morphology are examined experimentally through perforated ballistic test and X-CT (X-ray Computed Tomography). The results show that the wadded TTAI exhibits a 3.

Carbon composites based on multiaxial multiply stitched preforms. Part V: geometry of sheared biaxial fabrics

open access: closedComposites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2005
The geometry of multiaxial multiply carbon reinforcement under shear deformation is studied. A description based on the distortions of the fibres bundles, induced by the stitch yarn is proposed. These distortions are recognised to be dominant for the impregnation behaviour and the damage initiation, since they form flow channels for the impregnating ...

Effect of reinforcement continuity on the ballistic performance of composites reinforced with multiply plain weave fabric

open access: closedComposites Part B: Engineering, 2015
Abstract Structural composites with doubly curved surfaces, including ballistic helmet shells, require the use of discontinuous reinforcements due to their limited mouldability. This paper reports on the effect of reinforcement continuity on the ballistic performance of composites made from multiply plain weave fabric. Composites reinforced by 20-ply

Fabrication of microsphere plate electron multiplier device

SPIE Proceedings, 2008
Microsphere plate (MSP) is a new type of electron multiplier device. It is similar to the traditional microchannel plate (MCP) in dimensions and model of operation. Compared with the MCP electron multiplier, the MSP has some unique characteristics such as a high electron gain, without ion feedback and easy to be fabricated, thus it is widely used ...

Trial fabrication of beryllides as advanced neutron multiplier

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2011
Abstract Beryllium metal is considered as the neutron multiplier in the pebble bed blanket. On the other hand, advanced neutron multipliers with lower swelling and higher stability at high temperature are desired in pebble bed blankets for DEMO.
