Hardware monitoring of a multiprocessor system

IEEE Micro, 1989
The Testbed for Distributed Processing, or Ted, consists of Intel Corp.'s iSBC 8086 single board computers (SBCs) organized into groups or clusters. Each cluster consists of several SBCs that communicate via a shared memory. Intercluster communication occurs through an Ethernet interface.

An operating system extension for a multiprocessor

Journal of Systems Architecture, 1998
Abstract In the last few years computer architectures based on multiple processors have massively crossed the border from the mere academic research systems domain to the real world of industrial and consumer applications. New operating systems (OSs) for these parallel machines are now readily available.

A PIM-based multiprocessor system

Proceedings 15th International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium. IPDPS 2001, 2002
The growing gap in performance between processor and memory speeds has created a problem for data-intensive applications. A recent approach for solving this problem is to use processor-in-memory (PIM) technology. PIM technology integrates a processor on a DRAM memory chip, which increases bandwidth between the processor and memory.

Multiprocessor systems and their concurrency

2006
A multiprocessor system can be considered as a collection of finite automata which communicate over channels or shared memory units. The behaviour of such a system can be described by a semilanguage. This approach allows to define a numberical measure for the concurrency of multiprocessor systems and of distributed systems.

Multiprocessor systems with preemptive priorities

Performance Evaluation, 1981
Abstract A system with N processors and R job classes subject to a preemptive priority scheduling discipline is considered. Exact analysis is presented for the case R = 2, under Markovian assumptions. That analysis suggests a method for obtaining approximate solutions for arbitrary R .

AMBA based multiprocessor system

Proceedings. 2003 International Symposium on System-on-Chip (IEEE Cat. No.03EX748), 2004
In this paper, AMBA based multiprocessor system using dual ARM processor cores is proposed. In general, AMBA did not intend to be used in multiprocessor system. To implement multiprocessor system using AMBA AHB bus, a revised AHB bus arbiter, special AHB slave hardware, and registers which store bus master number and enable the right of bus usage are ...

Synchronization on heterogeneous multiprocessor systems

2009 International Symposium on Systems, Architectures, Modeling, and Simulation, 2009
To meet the exponential increase in processing requirements of present day embedded system applications, System-On-Chip (SoC) designs increasingly have multiple processing elements on the same die. The functionality of these processing elements varies considerably, and includes hardware accelerators for specific Digital Signal Processing (DSP) kernels,

Multiprocessor System for Power System Analysis

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1981
Abstract As the technology of computer hardware advances, the speedup of power system analysis becomes more and more necessary. In order to study about future power system analysis by parallel processing, we made a prototype of a multiprocessor system.

SEU Vulnerability of Multiprocessor Systems and Task Scheduling for Heterogeneous Multiprocessor Systems

9th International Symposium on Quality Electronic Design (isqed 2008), 2008
Utilizing a heterogeneous multiprocessor system has become a popular design paradigm to build an embedded system at a cheap cost within short development time. A reliability issue for embedded systems, which is vulnerability to single event upsets (SEUs), has become a matter of concern as technology proceeds.

A simulation generator for multiprocessor systems

Proceedings of the 5th Jerusalem Conference on Information Technology, 1990. 'Next Decade in Information Technology', 2002
A very general simulation tool for multiprocessor systems is proposed. The definition of the simulation generator is based on consideration of two principal characteristics of multiprocessor systems, namely, communication means and temporal behavior. Simulation of a wide spectrum of systems is made possible by allowing both shared memory, and message ...
