Upscaling errors in Heterogeneous Multiscale Methods for the Landau-Lifshitz equation

open access: yes, 2022
In this paper, we consider several possible ways to set up Heterogeneous Multiscale Methods for the Landau-Lifshitz equation with a highly oscillatory diffusion coefficient, which can be seen as a means to modeling rapidly varying ferromagnetic materials.

Bone‐Inspired Recyclable Composites for Damage‐Tolerant Circular Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bone‐inspired architected composites are developed by combining osteon‐like reinforcements with a recyclable Elium thermoplastic matrix. The hierarchical architecture redirects cracks and promotes energy dissipation, while enabling recovery of intact, aligned, load‐bearing reinforcement units that retain their original stiffness, revealing a route ...

A Multiscale Method for Epitaxial Growth

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we investigate a heterogeneous multiscale method (HMM) for interface tracking and apply the technique to the simulation of epitaxial growth. HMM relies on an efficient coupling between macroscale and microscale models.

Multiscale Computations for Highly Oscillatory Problems

open access: yes, 2009
We review a selection of essential techniques for constructing computational multiscale methods for highly oscillatory ODEs. Contrary to the typical approaches that attempt to enlarge the stability region for specialized problems, these lecture notes ...

Kinetics‐Controlled Architecture of Binder‐Free Organic Electrodes for Enhanced Ion Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Pulse reverse electrodeposition controls nucleation and growth to create hierarchically porous Py‐derived oligomeric electrodes with enhanced ionic accessibility and reduced transport resistance. The resulting binder‐free architectures translate these transport advantages into practical sodium‐storage functionality.
