Therapeutic Poxviruses Induce the Secretion of Immunostimulating and Anti‐Tumoral Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 6, June 2026.
Immune cells infected by therapeutic poxviruses release increased amounts of extracellular vesicles bearing viral proteins and therapeutic payloads. Such EVs have the ability to activate a CD8+ T‐cell mediated antitumoral immune response and decrease tumor growth.

Fungal‐Bacterial Interactions in Polymicrobial Infections: Hidden Threats

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Polymicrobial infections involving fungi and bacteria represent a major and increasingly recognized clinical challenge, in which interkingdom interactions significantly amplify disease severity, antimicrobial resistance, and treatment failure. Rather than passive co‐existence, fungal–bacterial communities form highly coordinated systems driven

Essential Oils and Their Multifunctional Activities Against Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Current Evidence and Perspectives

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
Essential oils show multifunctional activity against multidrug‐resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa by targeting bacterial membranes, quorum sensing, biofilm formation, virulence traits, and antibiotic susceptibility. Their translational potential depends on standardized composition, optimized delivery systems, safety assessment, and clinical validation ...

A Niche for Nasty Nippers: Exploring Harvest Management for Control of Invasive Asian Paddle Crabs in Aotearoa New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research, Volume 60, Issue 2, June 2026.
The invasive Asian paddle crab Charybdis japonica continues to expand its range across northern Aotearoa New Zealand, raising ecological, social, and economic concerns. This study theoretically assesses whether harvest‐based management—potentially including commercial, recreational, or customary fisheries—could contribute to population suppression ...

Scalable Flow Reactors for Stable Biofilm Formation and Continuous Whole‐Cell Catalysis

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 31, 2 June 2026.
Flow‐induced deposition enables the controlled formation of stable and long‐lived E. coli biofilms in modular, scalable microfluidic reactors. Hydrodynamic design principles, mechanistic insight into biofilm architecture and long‐term whole‐cell biocatalysis together establish a versatile platform for continuous microbial processing and the engineering
