This chapter discusses the key elements in the design of a distributed multistatic synthetic aperture radar mission. A number of application domains are discussed, with an emphasis on single- and multi-baseline interferometric techniques, deriving lower and upper bounds to the required spacecraft separation.

Frequency diversity in multistatic radars
2008 IEEE Radar Conference, 2008This paper presents the model and analysis of a frequency-diverse radar system. Multistatic radar systems provide an inherent spatial diversity by processing signals from different platforms which view a potential target from different aspect angles. By using different frequencies at each platform, an additional diversity gain can be obtained on top of

DATA FUSION IN A MULTISTATIC RADAR SYSTEM
Synthetic Aperture Sonar and Radar 2010, 2023This paper deals with the design and performance evaluation of a multistatic radar system where target detection is performed by jointly combining the signals arising from multiple spatially dispersed transmitters and receivers. We provide some simulation results that illustrate how significant improvements in radar system performances can be achieved ...

Multistatic radar micro-Doppler
2020This chapter reviews how multistatic radar sensor networks can be utilised to sense a series of different moving targets to extract their micro-Doppler (μD) signatures and use these for classification purposes. The field of radar has advanced significantly since its inception in the early twentieth century.

Waveform diversity in multistatic radar
2006 International Waveform Diversity & Design Conference, 2006Future military sensor systems will contain intelligent software that will dynamically assess a scenario and modify its emissions and its receiver's signal and data processing to enhance performance. This capability is of particular interest in multistatic radar situations.

Multistatic Ground-Penetrating Radar Experiments
IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2007A multistatic ground-penetrating radar (GPR) system has been developed and used to measure the response of a number of targets to produce data for the investigation of multistatic inversion algorithms. The system consists of a linear array of resistive-vee antennas, microwave switches, a vector network analyzer, and a 3-D positioner, all under computer

Multistatic-Radar Binomial Detection
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1978The performance of multistatic-radar binomial detectors is investigated. Although conceptually similar to the well-knwn "M-out-of-N" detector frequently considered for monostatic systems, the multistatic detector must cope with false alarms generated by target et ghosting as well as by noise threshold crossings.

Multistatic Radar Systems Signal Processing
2006 IEEE Conference on Radar, 2006In this paper, a multistatic radar system with multiple receivers and one transmitter is analyzed. We address the rules for selecting the weights for fusing multiple receivers in order to meet pre-specified performance goals. A multistatic radar ambiguity function is used to relate different radar performance measures to system parameters such as radar
