A Stochastic Continuous-Time Markov Chain Approach for Modeling the Dynamics of Cholera Transmission: Exploring the Probability of Disease Persistence or Extinction

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, a stochastic continuous-time Markov chain (CTMC) model is developed and analyzed to explore the dynamics of cholera. The multitype branching process is used to compute a stochastic threshold for the CTMC model.

The role of drones in disaster response: A literature review of operations research applications

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, Volume 32, Issue 2, Page 545-589, March 2025.
Abstract The increasing use of drones has led to growing interest in their potential applications in disaster response. In this study, we examine the role of drones in disaster management under three categories of operation types, which are information collection, delivery, and communication network recovery.

A two-patch model to quantify uncertainties in the transmission of brucellosis between domestic animals

open access: yesFranklin Open
Brucellosis, a neglected zoonotic disease, poses significant health risks to both humans and livestock. This study investigates a key factor influencing brucellosis transmission: the movement of animals in and out of communal grazing areas.

Dynamics and Control of Sugarcane Smut Using Deterministic and Stochastic Epidemic Models

open access: yesNatural Resource Modeling, Volume 38, Issue 1, February 2025.
ABSTRACT Sugarcane smut disease is a serious issue for farmers as it can greatly reduce sugarcane yield. It is important to manage this disease effectively to prevent economic losses. Farmers can use resistant varieties of sugarcane, remove diseased plants manually, or apply appropriate fungicides to control the spread of the disease; however, the ...

XAI‐Driven Resilient Image Classification in the Presence of Adversarial Perturbations

open access: yesIET Radar, Sonar &Navigation, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This study introduces expmax, a novel classifier based on explainable AI (XAI) principles, designed for multiclass classification using CNN architectures. expmax enhances resilience against adversarial samples by using SHAP‐based feature extraction and target mask area detection to focus on salient features while minimising distractions from background

MODELLING A MULTITYPE BRANCHING BROWNIAN MOTION: FILTERING OF A MEASURE-VALUED PROCESS

open access: yes, 2006
In the framework of marked trees, a multitype branching brownian motion, described by measure-valued processes, is studied. By applying the strong branching property, the Markov property and the expression of the generator are derived for the process ...

Random laminations and multitype branching processes

open access: yesElectronic Communications in Probability, 2011
We consider multitype branching processes arising in the study of random laminations of the disk. We classify these processes according to their subcritical or supercritical behavior and provide Kolmogorov-type estimates in the critical case corresponding to the random recursive lamination process of [1].

Multi‐Objective Optimization of Cislunar Navigation Constellations and Mission Validation for Lunar Re‐Exploration

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
To address the limitations of traditional navigation systems in lunar exploration missions regarding positioning accuracy and coverage, this study proposes a multi‐objective optimization framework for the Lunar Navigation Satellite System (LNSS) to support the lunar re‐exploration mission.

On a Maximum Sequence in a Critical Multitype Branching Process

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1992
The \(p\)-type (positively regular, non-singular) critical branching process, \(\{Z_ n\}\), is considered. Let \(v\) be the right eigenvector of the mean matrix corresponding to the eigenvalue 1 and let \(Y_ n\) be \(Z_ n\cdot v\), which is a martingale. It is the maximum sequence of this martingale that is studied. Specifically if \(M_ n=\max\{Y_ j: 0\

Logistics Distribution Path Optimization Considering Carbon Emissions and Multifuel‐Type Vehicles

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
With the development of a sustainable economy, higher requirements are put forward for logistics enterprises, which not only need to meet the requirements of profit growth but also to meet the need of sustainable development. A vehicle routing problem (VRP) optimization model considering carbon emissions and multifuel‐type vehicles (VRP‐CEMF) is ...
