Genetic Algorithm Assisted Minimum Bit Error Rate Multiuser Detection in Multiple Antenna Aided OFDM

open access: yes, 2004
The family of minimum bit error rate (MBER) multiuser detectors (MUD) is capable of outperforming the classic minimum mean-squared-error (MMSE)MUDin term of the achievable bit-error rate (BER) owing to directly minimising the BER cost function.

Assessing the Impact of Wastewater Flow Rates on SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA Detection: Insights for Environmental Surveillance and Policymaking

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 4, Summer 2026.
We meta‐analyzed 10 studies to assess whether influent flow rate affects SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA detection in wastewater treatment plants serving ≤60,000 inhabitants. The pooled odds ratio (2.08; 95% CI: 0.994–37; p = 0.053) showed no significant association between flow rate and detection probability.

Impact of 2D versus 3D fibroblast models on Leishmania species invasion in vitro: Rab5 dynamics and actin activity in initial infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology
BackgroundThe protozoan Leishmania, in addition to infecting phagocytic cells such as macrophages, can also invade non-professional phagocytic cells like fibroblasts, a process previously described in 2D models.

Strategic Roadmap for Addressing Microplastic Pollution in the Global South: Bridging Monitoring Gaps, Harmonizing Methods, and Building Analytical Capacity

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 4, Summer 2026.
ABSTRACT Microplastic (MP) pollution represents a growing environmental challenge, especially in tropical and subtropical coastal regions of the Global South, where methodological fragmentation, funding discontinuity, and dependence on external analytical infrastructure limit the production of comparable data and the formulation of evidence‐based ...

Adaptive Minimum-BER Linear Multiuser Detection for DS-CDMA Signals in Multipath Channels

open access: yes, 2001
The problem of constructing adaptive minimum bit error rate (MBER) linear multiuser detectors is considered for direct-sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) signals transmitted through multipath channels.

Computational Insights into the Interaction of the Conserved Cysteine-Noose Domain of the Human Respiratory Syncytial Virus G Protein with the Canonical Fractalkine Binding site of Transmembrane Receptor CX3CR1 Isoforms

open access: yesMembranes
The human Respiratory Syncytial Virus (hRSV) stands as one of the most common causes of acute respiratory diseases. The infectivity of this virus is intricately linked to its membrane proteins, notably the attachment glycoprotein (G protein).

Adaptive near minimum error rate training for neural networks with application to multiuser detection in CDMA communication systems

open access: yes, 2005
Adaptive training of neural networks is typically done using some stochastic gradient algorithm that tries to minimize the mean square error (MSE). For many applications, such as channel equalization and code-division multiple-access (CDMA) multiuser ...

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TFPI GENE POLYMORPHISMS, POST-COVID-19 CONDITION AND D-DIMER LEVELS IN PATIENTS WITH HISTORY OF COVID-19

open access: yesHematology, Transfusion and Cell Therapy
Aim: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious respiratory illness associated with systemic inflammation. Post-COVID-19 condition (PCC) refers to persistence or development of new clinical findings 3-months after COVID-19 infection ...

Antenna-Diversity-Assisted Genetic-Algorithm-Based Multiuser Detection Schemes for Synchronous CDMA Systems

open access: yes, 2003
A spatial diversity reception assisted multiuser code-division multiple-access detector based on genetic algorithms (GAs) is proposed. Two different GA-based individual-selection strategies are considered. In our first approach, the so-called individuals
