Iterative multiuser detection

IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, 2004
Communication channels that involve both error-control coding and multiple-access signaling are of increasing interest in applications such as cellular telephony, wireless computer networks, and broadband local access. Optimal data detection and decoding in such channels generally require a level of computational complexity that is prohibitive for ...

Turbo greedy multiuser detection

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 2001
Previously, a novel scheme for iterative multiuser detection and turbo decoding was proposed by Damnjanovic and Vojcic (2000, 2001). In this scheme, multiuser detection and single-user turbo decoding are tightly coupled to maximize the overall gain.

Adaptive Multiuser Detection

Proceedings of IEEE 3rd International Symposium on Spread Spectrum Techniques and Applications (ISSSTA'94), 1995
An important thrust in research in multiuser detection is the design of adaptive detectors, which self-tune the detector parameters from the observation of the received waveform. The literature on this subject is surveyed in this tutorial paper.

Energy efficiency of multiuser detection

WCNC. 1999 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (Cat. No.99TH8466), 2003
We study the power consumption of several multiuser detectors in the power controlled DS-CDMA system. The matched-filter detector, linear MMSE detector, successive interference cancellation (SIC), and LMMSE-SIC are considered. Closed form analysis and numerical results show that by using a multiuser detector, system power consumption can significantly ...

Precoded opportunistic multiuser detection

2012 IEEE International Conference on Communication Systems (ICCS), 2012
In this paper, we study multi-user multi-input-multi-output (MU-MIMO) wireless system for spectrum sharing over a limited bandwidth, in which transmit covariance matrices of the coexisting users independently updated in an iterative manner for individual rate maximization.

Multiuser detection in impulsive channels

Turbo multiuser detection

Conference Record of Thirty-Second Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (Cat. No.98CH36284), 2002
An iterative receiver structure is proposed for decoding multiuser information data in a convolutionally coded DS-CDMA system. The receiver performs two successive soft-output decisions, achieved by a soft-input soft-output (SISO) multiuser detector and a bank of single-user SISO channel decoders, through an iterative process.

Crosstalk profile detection for use in multiuser detection

ICC 2001. IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Record (Cat. No.01CH37240), 2002
Accurate identification of crosstalk interferers can increase throughput by proper loading or multiuser detection. In some systems, such as cable based delivery systems, crosstalk channel characteristics are finite and static. Furthermore, the type of service on each line does not change.

Distributed multiuser detection

Conference Record of the Thirty-Third Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers (Cat. No.CH37020), 2003
Multiuser detection is extended to distributed scenarios. Each cooperating receiver makes preliminary decisions on the received bits of multiple users based on its own observations. Then the preliminary decisions are combined at the fusion center to produce the final decision.

A new approach to greedy multiuser detection

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2002
We propose a new suboptimum multiuser detector for synchronous and asynchronous multiuser communications. In this approach, a greedy strategy is used to maximize the cost function, the maximum-likelihood (ML) metric. The coefficients of the ML metric are utilized as weights indicating in which order bits can be estimated.
