Multivalent Cooperative Catalysts

Current Organic Chemistry, 2009
Multivalent systems are well known for their enhanced ability to bind multivalent counterparts. This contribution addresses the question whether they can also behave as cooperative catalysts. Analyzing examples mostly (but not only) from our own laboratory we show what conditions are required for obtaining cooperativity in catalysis. Systems considered

Multivalent Functions

1994
The class of multivalent functions is an important one in complex analysis. They occur for example in the proof of De Branges' theorem which, in 1985, settled the long-standing Bieberbach conjecture. The second edition of Professor Hayman's celebrated book contains a full and self-contained proof of this result, with a chapter devoted to it.

Toward multivalent carbohydrate drugs

Drug Discovery Today: Technologies, 2009
Proteins that bind and/or convert carbohydrate structures represent a vast potential for therapeutic development. The use of multivalency is nature's solution to overcome the limited affinities of carbohydrate ligands and has also proven to be a successful strategy for inhibitor development.

Multivalent cation intercalation

Solid State Ionics, 1992
Abstract Magnesium and zinc have been intercalated into both cubic and layered TiS2, also zinc has been intercalated into the layered compound WO2Cl2. Intercalation has been carried out via chemical routes involving the reaction of the organometallic compounds di-n-butylmagnesium [(C4H9)2Mg], Mg-2,6-di-t-butylphenoxide [Mg-(O-2,6-But2C6H3)2] and di ...
