Exploratory multivariate analysis for empirical information affected by uncertainty and modeled in a fuzzy manner: a review [PDF]

open access: yesGranular Computing, 2017
In the last few decades, there has been an increase in the interest of the scientific community for multivariate statistical techniques of data analysis in which the data are affected by uncertainty, imprecision, or vagueness. In this context, following a fuzzy formalization, several contributions and developments have been offered in various fields of

Machine Learning for Predictive Modeling in Nanomedicine‐Based Cancer Drug Delivery

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
The integration of AI/ML into nanomedicine offers a transformative approach to therapeutic design and optimization. Unlike conventional empirical methods, AI/ML models (such as classification, regression, and neural networks) enable the analysis of complex clinical and formulation datasets to predict optimal nanoparticle characteristics and therapeutic

Flood susceptibility assessment in central region of Vietnam based on ensemble fuzzy logic and multivariate analysis

open access: yesUrbanism. Arhitectura. Constructii, 2022
Flooding is the most damaging natural hazard in the world. A better understanding of floods is a fundamental element in guiding the development of policies for managing and reducing flood risk. The main objective of this research is to contribute to the improvement of knowledge on flood susceptibility by combining Fuzzy AHP and Multivariate Analysis ...

Micromorpho‐anatomical studies on the leaves and woods of Turkish Daphne (Thymelaeaceae) taxa

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
The identification of Daphne taxa is difficult because of the lack of available morphological characteristics. Here, we aimed to describe leaf and wood micromorpho‐anatomical characteristics of native Turkish Daphne taxa (D. glomerata, D. gnidioides, D. mezereum, D. mucronata, D. oleoides subsp. kurdica, D. pontica and D.

Multivariate fuzzy analysis of brain tissue volumes and relaxation rates for supporting the diagnosis of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis

open access: yesBiomedical Signal Processing and Control, 2019
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic neuroinflammatory disorder of the brain and spinal cord, widely studied nowadays, due to its relevant prevalence in the population. Even though no cure exists, an earlier and more adequate choice of treatment could delay its evolution and prevent irreversible sequelae and disability progression.

Fuzzy postprocessing of seasonal climate forecasts for semiarid river basins

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Meteorological forecasts from AI‐based fuzzy rule‐based system (FRB) are compared to linear scaling (LS) and quantile mapping (QM). Seasonal forecasts from the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) are considered. Results show that the highest skill is achieved for the FRB approach.

Estimation of coal proximate analysis factors and calorific value by multivariable regression method and adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mining and Geo-Engineering, 2017
The proximate analysis is the most common form of coal evaluation and it reveals the quality of a coal sample. It examines four factors including the moisture, ash, volatile matter (VM), and fixed carbon (FC) within the coal sample. Every factor is determined through a distinct experimental procedure under ASTM specified conditions.

Political alignment in entrepreneurial teams: Homophily in venture formation and associations with startup success

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary We examine political affiliation's role in venture team formation and success. Using data from Crunchbase and L2 on 1125 US‐based startups, we investigate political homophily in team assembly and its association with startup outcomes.

Seasonal variations and challenges in estimating populations and identifying species of Korean ungulates using drone‐derived thermal orthomosaic maps

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Drones equipped with thermal infrared (TIR) cameras offer significant time and labor savings in estimating wild ungulate populations. However, accurately monitoring forest‐dwelling ungulates remains challenging due to their elusive behavior and complex habitat.

Evaluation of fuzzy inference systems using fuzzy least squares [PDF]

open access: yes
Efforts to develop evaluation methods for fuzzy inference systems which are not based on crisp, quantitative data or processes (i.e., where the phenomenon the system is built to describe or control is inherently fuzzy) are just beginning.
