Hydrochemical Characteristics of Four Retreating Glacier Forefields Off the Coast of Admiralty Bay (King George Island, Maritime Antarctic): Diverse Sources of Metals and Metalloids

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, Volume 37, Issue 4, Page 1330-1352, 28 February 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines the impact of geological, marine and anthropogenic sources on metal and metalloid concentrations in the forefields of four glaciers (Ecology, Sphinx, Tower and Windy) on King George Island, Antarctic. Water samples were collected at the beginning and end of the hydrological season (austral summer, December 2021 to February ...

Assessing the Number of Components in Mixture Models: a Review. [PDF]

open access: yes
Despite the widespread application of finite mixture models, the decision of how many classes are required to adequately represent the data is, according to many authors, an important, but unsolved issue.

Gas emission prediction model based on genetic algorithm and fuzzy multivariate linear regression analysis

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2013
In view of problem that classical linear regression model cannot completely reflect coupling relationship among variables and it is not suitable for gas emission prediction with fuzzy number, the paper proposed a gas emission prediction model based on genetic algorithm and fuzzy multivariate linear regression analysis.

Dusty Streets: The Challenge of Dust‐Borne Pollutants in Low‐Income Countries

open access: yesCLEAN – Soil, Air, Water, Volume 54, Issue 2, February 2026.
Generally, pollution impacts developed and low‐income countries (LICs) to different extents, and the disease burden due to roadway dust is not uniformly distributed across socio‐economic classes. Roadway dust materials from paved and unpaved urban and rural roads were reported to contain organic constituents which are toxic and affect public health ...

Rain, Bark, and Residual Variability in Stemflow From Three Dominant Tree Species of a Southern Great Lakes Forest

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 2, February 2026.
Terrestrial LiDAR and hydrology calibration were used to derive each tree's stemflow drainage area, normalising rainfall‐stemflow relations by contributing surface. The results show that Fagus grandifolia (beech) maintains a stronger, steeper hydrological response to rainfall (exhibited by a higher normalised yield) than Acer saccharum (maple) and ...

Application of Machine Learning in the Diagnosis and Prognosis of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Using Diffusion Tensor Imaging: A Systematic Review

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 63, Issue 2, Page 328-345, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is a global health concern, with mild TBI (mTBI) being the most common form. Despite its prevalence, accurately diagnosing mTBI remains a significant challenge. While advanced neuroimaging techniques like diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) offer promise for more robust diagnosis, their clinical application ...

The DNA of Calabi–Yau Hypersurfaces

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 74, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Genetic Algorithms are implemented for triangulations of four‐dimensional reflexive polytopes, which induce Calabi–Yau threefold hypersurfaces via Batyrev's construction. These algorithms are shown to efficiently optimize physical observables such as axion decay constants or axion–photon couplings in string theory compactifications.
