Tests Based on Skewness and Kurtosis for Multivariate Normality

open access: yesCommunications for Statistical Applications and Methods, 2015
A measure of skewness and kurtosis is proposed to test multivariate normality. It is based on an empirical standardization using the scaled residuals of the observations. First, we consider the statistics that take the skewness or the kurtosis for each coordinate of the scaled residuals.

Impulse Buying in Live Streaming: Value Determinants and Self‐Control

open access: yesGlobal Business and Organizational Excellence, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although e‐commerce is still in its early stages of development in developing regions, the growing economy and improving digital infrastructure have created favorable conditions for positioning a country as an emerging digital commerce hub, attracting both consumers and businesses seeking new opportunities.

Psychometric considerations of Adverse Childhood Experiences Questionnaire: Structure, validity, and the development of a supplementary instrument

open access: yesJournal of Traumatic Stress, EarlyView.
Abstract Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are linked to numerous negative physical and mental health outcomes. The current study addressed theoretical, conceptual, and measurement problems by evaluating a novel extension to the seminal ACEs questionnaire (ACEs‐Q).

Properties and Applications of some Distributions derived from Frullani's integral [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Frullani's integral dates from 1821, but a probabilistic interpretation of it has never been made. In this paper, Frullani's integral formula is shown to result from mixing a lifetime distribution by allowing the logarithm of the scale factor to be ...

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics and Deep Learning Link N‐(2‐Furoyl) Glycine to GLRX3 in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gastric cancer remains a health burden, and its metabolic drivers are poorly defined. N‐(2‐furoyl) glycine, a circulating metabolite, has been implicated in tumor biology. We investigated its causal role in gastric cancer and the underlying mechanism.

Multivariate Kurtosis as a Tool for Comparing Copula Models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Statistics and Probability, 2016
This paper studies the effectiveness of the Multivariate Kurtosis in comparing the Clayton Copula and the Farleigh-Gumbel-Morgenstern Copula in modeling when the actual populations follow either the bivariate exponential distribution or the bivariate normal distribution.

Crop genotypic richness enhances biomass production and phosphorus acquisition in maize‐mycorrhiza symbiosis

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Our study tests how soil and plant biodiversity can enhance sustainability of crop production in Kenya. We tested whether mixtures of maize varieties performed better than monocultures and tested their response to arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi. Mycorrhizal responsiveness differed significantly by maize variety, and genetic mixtures outperformed ...

Hyperspectral colon tissue cell classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A novel algorithm to discriminate between normal and malignant tissue cells of the human colon is presented. The microscopic level images of human colon tissue cells were acquired using hyperspectral imaging technology at contiguous wavelength intervals ...
