Is thyroid nodule location associated with malignancy risk? [PDF]

open access: yesUltrasonography, 2019
Purpose Nodules located in the upper pole of the thyroid may carry a greater risk for malignancy than those in the lower pole. We conducted a study to analyze the risk of malignancy of nodules depending on location.

The Spatial Heterogeneity of the Black Scorpionfish, Scorpaena porcus (Scorpaenidae): Differences in Length, Dietary and Age Compositions

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The present study assessed spatial variations in several biological characteristics of Scorpaena porcus Linnaeus, 1758 and estimated length structure, dietary composition and growth parameters for the species. Sampling was carried out in two areas, about

Targeted modulation of IGFL2‐AS1 reveals its translational potential in cervical adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cervical adenocarcinoma patients face worse outcomes than squamous cell carcinoma counterparts despite similar treatment. The identification of IGFL2‐AS1's differential expression provides a molecular basis for distinguishing these histotypes, paving the way for personalized therapies and improved survival in vulnerable populations globally.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Spatial time-series modeling with R system

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2004
In this paper we propose modeling technique, which was applied to multivariate time series data that correspond to different spatial locations (spatial time series). ARIMA model class is considered for each location.

A new mixture copula model for spatially correlated multiple variables with an environmental application

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
In environmental monitoring, multiple spatial variables are often sampled at a geographical location that can depend on each other in complex ways, such as non-linear and non-Gaussian spatial dependence.

Multivariate Stieltjes type theorems and location of common zeros of multivariate orthogonal polynomials

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2007
The first two authors have studied in detail properties associated with 2-variable orthogonal polynomials in their earlier communications [J. Inf. Comput. Sci. I(1), 103--106 (2004); J. Math. Anal. Appl. 324, No. 2, 785--789 (2006; Zbl 1112.33006); the first author and \textit{R. Wang}, J. Math. Anal. Appl. 268, No. 1, 171--183 (2002; Zbl 1025.42012)].

Antibiofilm activity of a chionodracine‐derived peptide by NMR‐based metabolomics of cell‐free supernatant of Acinetobacter baumannii clinical strains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KHS‐Cnd peptide is able to impair biofilm formation and disaggregate mature biofilms in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates. Differences in extracellular metabolites reflect changes in biofilm metabolism due to KHS‐Cnd treatment. Among the differentially represented extracellular metabolites upon KHS‐Cnd treatment, the significantly altered ...

Predictive Factors of the Standard Cross-linking Outcomes in Adult Keratoconus: One-Year Follow-Up

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, 2017
Purpose. To evaluate the effects of preoperative presumed predictor factors on clinical and topographic outcomes in adult keratoconus (KC) 1 year after the standard corneal cross-linking (CXL). Design. Retrospective cohort study. Methods.
