A Two-Stage Maximum Entropy Prior of Location Parameter with a Stochastic Multivariate Interval Constraint and Its Properties

open access: yesEntropy, 2016
This paper proposes a two-stage maximum entropy prior to elicit uncertainty regarding a multivariate interval constraint of the location parameter of a scale mixture of normal model.

Multivariate analysis for probabilistic WLAN location determination systems [PDF]

open access: yesThe Second Annual International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems: Networking and Services, 2005
WLAN location determination systems are gaining increasing attention due to the value they add to wireless networks. In this paper, we present a multivariate analysis technique for enhancing the performance of WLAN location determination systems by taking the correlation between samples from the same access point into account.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

On an Adaptive Transformation–Retransformation Estimate of Multivariate Location

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Statistical Society Series B: Statistical Methodology, 1998
Summary An affine equivariant estimate of multivariate location based on an adaptive transformation and retransformation approach is studied. The work is primarily motivated by earlier work on different versions of the multivariate median and their properties. We explore an issue related to efficiency and equivariance that was originally

Location‐Specific Hematoma Volume Predicts Early Neurological Deterioration in Supratentorial ICH

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Early neurological deterioration (END) adversely affects outcomes in patients with intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH). This study aimed to determine the location‐specific hematoma volumes for END in supratentorial ICH patients. Methods We retrospectively analyzed supratentorial ICH patients presenting from two prospective cohorts.

On Projection Pursuit Measures of Multivariate Location and Dispersion

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1984
Projection pursuit (PP) techniques are directed to the study of high- dimensional data, starting from the idea of selecting ''interesting'' low dimensional projections by iteratively maximizing an appropriate index, usually with the aid of computer.

SPG4 and Dementia: Expanding the Clinical Spectrum

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Hereditary spastic paraplegia (HSP) is a group of disorders characterized by progressive spasticity and lower limb weakness, with mutations in SPG4/SPAST being the most common cause. Detailed studies and clinical and molecular comparisons across different populations are missing.

Robust $M$-Estimators of Multivariate Location and Scatter

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1976
Let $\mathbf{x}_1,\cdots, \mathbf{x}_n$ be a sample from an $m$-variate distribution which is spherically symmetric up to an affine transformation. This paper deals with the robust estimation of the location vector $\mathbf{t}$ and scatter matrix $\mathbf{V}$ by means of "$M$-estimators," defined as solutions of the system: $\sum_i u_1(d_i)(\mathbf{x ...

Weighted likelihood estimation of multivariate location and scatter [PDF]

open access: yesTEST, 2018
A novel approach to obtain weighted likelihood estimates of multivariate location and scatter is discussed. A weighting scheme is proposed that is based on the distribution of the Mahalanobis distances rather than the distribution of the data at the assumed model.
